Rex Allen

GALLUP — Memorial services for Rex Allen, 65, will be at 1 p.m. on Sunday, July 31, 2011, at the Fellowship Church. Grace Lueras will officiate.

Allen was born June 25, 1946, in El Paso, Texas.
He moved to Gallup in 1956 and graduated from Gallup High School in 1964 and married his wife Oma Jane in 1966. Allen was a Cub Scout leader and a little league baseball coach. He worked at United Nuclear in the 1970s and early 1980s. His hobbies included working on clocks and computers and he loved spending time with his grandchildren. Allen enjoyed dressing up as Witchy-poo for Halloween, Bo-Jangles for birthdays and Santa Claus for Christmas. He was also an active member at the Fellowship Church.

Survivors include his sons Robert Allen and Stephen Alen; daughters Rexann Allen, Lori Allen and Becky Romero; brother Bill Allen; sister Sherry Williams and eight grandchildren. Allen was preceded in death by his wife Oma Jane Allen; his father Orville Douglas and mother Velin Allen-Stevens.

Pallbearers will be Alyssa Allen, Christopher Berger, Jenell Romero, Joshua Allen, Nicholas Romero, Jacob Romero, Austin Kollie, Mikey Montoya, Marisol Bionez and Lexie Overman.
The family will receive relatives and friends at 3303 Blue Hill Ave. following the services.

Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mary Jane Billie

SANDERS, Ariz. — Funeral services for Mary Jane Billie, 71, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 29, 2011, at Sanders Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints Chapel. Burial will be in Houck Community Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, 9 a.m. at the stake Chapel.

Billie died July 23, 2011, in Gallup. She was born July 25, 1939, in Gallup into the Black Sheep People Clan for the Charcoal Streaked Division of the Red Running into the Water People Clan.

Billie attended ninth grade at Chino Valley High School in Prescott, Ariz. She then worked as a maid at Thumbs Butte Ranch. Later, she moved to Querino Canyon and was a homemaker. She loved to herd sheep, needle point, make quilts and crochet.

Survivors include her son Robert Lewis of California; brothers Mark Lewis, Teddy Lewis, Freddie Lewis, Gary Lewis, all of Querino Canyon, Mike Lewis Jr., of Tohatchi, Michael Lewis of Sanders; sisters Sarah Tso of Farmington, Lillian Lewis Miller of Sanders, Patricia Lewis Lee, Ilene Lewis Denette, both of Querino Canyon, Virginia Billie Jones of Wide Ruins, Clara Billy of Sanders; and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Edibah Yazzie Lewis and Tom Billie; stepfather Mike Lewis Sr.; brother Jerry Lewis; and sister Betty Lewis.

Pallbearers will be Mark Lewis, Freddie Lewis, Mike Lewis Jr. Micheal Lewis, Gary Lewis and Anthony Marlow.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Sanders L.D.S. Chapel Recreation Center. Donations may be made to Ilene Lewis at her home in Querino Canyon.

Joe Mitchell Jr.

ROCK SPRINGS — Funeral services for Joe Mitchell Jr., 23, will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, July 29, 2011, at Rollie Mortuary. Rev. Jimmy Bowling will officiate. Burial will be in Gallup City Cemetery.

Mitchell died July 24, 2011, in Albuquerque. He was born January 26, 1988, in Gallup into the Mountain Cove People Clan for the Towering House People Clan.

Mitchell graduated from Gallup High School in 2007. His hobbies included helping his family and friends. He also liked to work on cars and do maintenence work for others.

Survivors include his mother Florita Mitchell of Rock Springs; brother Larry Mitchell of Bluewater; sisters Alice Claw of Page, Ariz., Lorena Mitchell of Gallup.

He was preceded in death by his father Joe Mitchell Sr.

Pallbearers will be Hansen Peterson, Justin Peterson, Colbert Sherman, Harlen Claw, Elroy Lee and Harold Mitchell.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Rock Springs Chapter following the burial.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Maybelline Plummer

GALLUP — Funeral services for Maybelline Plummer, 38, will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 29, 2011. Reverend Dennis Gardner will officiate. Burial will be at Sunset Cemetery. Visitation will be at Rollie Mortuary Thursday, July 28, 2011.

Plummer died July 24, 2011, in Albuquerque. she was born May 3, 1973, in Gallup into the Ute People Clan for the Red Running into the Water People Clan.

Plummer attended 11th grade at Fort Wingate High School and worked at H&R Block and Saferide. She was Rockspring Rodeo Queen and was in powwows. She enjoyed being with friends and family, especially her nieces and nephews. She enjoyed music and going to her son’s football games.

Survivors include her husband Derrick Joe; sons Deremiah Joe and Derrick Joe Jr.; parents Elsie Plummer and Johnston Plummer; brothers Bobby Sandoval of Sagebrush, Harvey Sandoval of St. Michael summit, Harry Plummer of Coal Mine; sisters Pauline Jones, Charlene Bahe, both of Yatahey, Marlene Johnson of Churchrock, Arlene McLaughlin of Gamerco, Wilhelmena Thompson, of Gallup, Marie Sandoval of Coal Mine.

Plummer was preceded in death by her grandparents Harrison Yazzie and Mary H. Yazzie; brother Jasper Willie; sister Esther Chee; niece Myra Francisco and nephew Davrian McLaughlin.

Pallbearers will be Raydel Jones, Robert Johnson Jr. Robbie Johnson, Dwight Bahe, Bobby Sandoval Jr. and Larry Plummer.

The family will receive relatives and friends at First Baptist Church in Mentmore after services.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Bahe Yazzie

CHINLE, Ariz. — Services for Bahe Yazzie, 91, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 30, 2011, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Chinle, Ariz. Dan Smith will officiate. Burial will be in a family plot.

Yazzie died July 23, 2011, in Ogden, Utah. He was born April 29, 1920, in Chinle to the Coyote Pass for Bitter Water Clan.

Yazzie completed eighth grade at Fort Apache, Ariz, and worked on the railroad for 30 years. He was last employed as a janitor at Chinle High School and was also a medicine man.

Survivors include his daughter Elsie Jayne Nez of Chinle, Ariz; sisters Esther Y. Bahe of Chinle and Nellie Curley of Window Rock, Ariz; five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Bahe Yazzie’s residence in Chinle, Ariz.
