Mary Loy

LUPTON, Ariz. — Funeral services for Mary B. Loy, 78, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Stake Center.

Loy died Aug. 29, 2011, in Gallup. She was born July 2, 1933, into the Black Streak Forest People Clan for the Salt Water People Clan.

Loy enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and relatives. She was an active member of the Native American Church.

Survivors include her sons Ray Andy Loy, Tom Loy Jr. and Elton Loy; daughter Arlene Loy; 20 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Tom Loy Sr.; sons Thomas Ray Loy and Jennie B. Loy; parents Tom and Yedanebah Brown; brothers Billye Brown, Dick Brown Sr. and John Brown and sister Willie B. Begay.

Pallbearers will be Ray Thomas Loy, Manuel Jacob Loy, Gary, Loy, Trenton Lee Yazzie, Sean Thomas Loy, and Jorrdan Bryce Begay.

The family will meet at Lupton Chapter House on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011, following services.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Garland Spencer Jr.

ROCKSPRINGS — Funeral Services for Garland Strover Spencer Jr., 29, will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2011, at the Cope Memorial Chapel in Gallup. The Rev. Dennis Gardner will officiate. Burial will be in the City Cemetery.

Spencer died Aug. 23, 2011, in Rocksprings. He was born March 14, 1982, in Ganado into the Red Running into the Water People Clan for the Black Streak Forest People Clan.

Spencer attended Chuska Elementary, Piñon Middle School, Wingate High School and graduated from Foothills High School in Albuquerque in 1999. He also attended the University of New Mexico in Gallup and studied auto mechanics. His hobbies included drawing and being a loving uncle to his nieces and nephews.

Survivors include his parents Mary Spencer, of Gallup, and Garland Spencer Sr., of Ganado, Ariz.; brothers Delbert Spencer, of Rocksprings; sisters Tanya Spencer, of Gallup, and Sheena Spencer, of Tohlakai; and grandparent Curley Spencer. He was preceded in death by his stepfather David W. Begay; grandmother Marie Sampson; and grandparents Melita and Kee Chee.

Pallbearers will be Delbert Spencer, Jasper Jackson, Steven Coan, Robert Jones, Jimmy Harvey, and Dewayne Yazzie.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Rocksprings Chapter.

Cope Memorial is in charge of arrangements.
