Roy Gene Blackgoat

ALLENTOWN, Ariz. — Services for Roy Gene Blackgoat will be announced at a later date.

Blackgoat died Sept. 10, 2011, in Fort Defiance, Ariz. He was born July 26, 1957, in Fort Defiance.

Cope Memorial is in charge of arrangements.

Benson Brown

ROCKSPRINGS — Services for Benson Brown, 49, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, 2011, at Rollie Mortuary. The Rev. Dennis Gardner will officiate. Burial will be in Rehoboth Cemetery.
Brown died Sept. 9, 2011, in Albuquerque. He was born Sept. 28, 1961, in Gallup into the Mountain Cove People Clan born for the Towering House People Clan.

Brown graduated from Wingate High School in 1979, received an Auto Technician Certificate from San Juan College and a Carpentry Certificate from the University of New Mexico-Gallup. He enjoyed doing carpentry work, playing softball, watching his grandchildren grow up and his daughter grow up and succeed.

Survivors include his wife Violet Brown; daughters Valerie Tannie, SherriLynn Brown, Tiffany A. Brown, and Jordan Brown; mother Irene M. Brown; brothers Billy Brown Jr., David M. Brown and Henry Hank Brown; sisters Margaret Chavez, Arlene Begay, Shirleen McCaraith and Elaine Thomas; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father Billy J. Brown Sr.

Pallbearers will be Augustine Davis, Jason Brown, Anderson Thomas, Adrian Thomas, Avery Thomas and Augustine Yazzie.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Joanne Ruth Mattis

GALLUP — Services for Joanne Ruth Mattis, 83, will be announced at a later date.

Mattis died Sept. 13, 2011, in Gallup. She was born May 7, 1928, in New Lexington, Ohio.
