Alice Mariano
GRANTS Funeral services for Alice Johnson
Mariano, 80, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 4, at Church
of God Southwest Indian Ministries in Thoreau. Reverend Russell
and Florence Barker will officiate. Burial will follow in Thoreau
Community Cemetary.
Mariano died March 31 in Fort Defiance. She was born June 25,
1925 in Mariano Lake into the the Water Flow Together People Clan
for the Towering House People Clan.
Mariano was a homemaker, rug weaver, foster grandparent, silversmith,
farmer, rancher and maid.
Survivors include her sons, Wayne C. Mariano of Heartbutte and
Tom J. Mariano of Milan; daughter, Rose A. Yazzie of Heartbutte;
brother, Lawrence Johnson of Thoreau.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clem Mariano; parents,
Con ha bah Saunder and Willie Johnson; brother, Irvin Johnson.
Pallbearers will be Ricky Yazzie, Christopher Begay, Brian Mariano,
Bobby Mariano, Clarence Wally, and Samuel Tom.
Cope Memorial is in charge of arrangements.

GALLUP Funeral services for Avis Carroll
Farmer, 88, will be announced at a later date.
A viewing will be 3 to 4:30 p.m., Thursday, April 5, at Rollie
Mortuary.
Farmer died Sunday, April 1 in Gallup. She was born May 7, 1918
in Durango, Colo.
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
