Caroline Yazzie
MEXICAN SPRINGS Funeral services for
Caroline Yazzie, 47, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, April 7, at the
Thoreau Church of God. Bobby Willie will officiate. Burial will
be in the Smith Lake Community Cemetery.
Yazzie died April 3, in Gallup. She was born Oct. 2, 1959 in Smith
Lake into Apache People Clan and for the Bitter Water People Clan.
Yazzie attended Thoreau Boarding School and Gallup High School.
She was employed with Anasazi Traders as a silversmith and self-employed
with arts and crafts. Her hobbies included beading, listening
to the radio, playing with her grandchildren, and joking around.
Survivors include her husband, Albert Dawes; sons, Bucky Chavez
of Haystack, Wesley Dawes and Dustin Dawes, both of Mexican Springs;
daughters, Verdie Chavez of Thoreau, Crystal Chavez, Cassandra
Dawes, and Pricilla Dawes, all of Mexican Springs; brothers, Benson
Becenti and Sampson Yazzie, both of Smith Lake; sister, Geraldine
Yazzie of Smith Lake; 7 grandchildren.
Yazzie was preceded in death by spouse, Henry Dawes; brother,
Edison Yazzie; parents, Julia Largo and Samuel Yazzie.
Pallbearers will be Bucky Chavez, Wesley Dawes, Dustin Dawes,
Benson Becenti, Marcus Morgan, and Clearence Benally.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Smith Lake
Chapter.
Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
