Third Street paving: Vince Lewis of the Gallup Street Dept.,
directs a dump truck driver while Nelson Tso drives and controls
the Bomag Street Machine by Martin on Thursday afternoon on the
north side of Third Street. The Bomag is cutting down two inches
into the asphalt so that Third Street can be repaved. Currently
the Gallup City Street Dept. has been leasing the Bomag for the
past week. One of the workers on site praised the machine because
it cuts the time for repaving a street in half lessening the time
that drivers are inconvenienced. [Photo by Matt Hinshaw/Independent]
Kick it: Christy Hathaway of Denver, Colo., kicks a ball
while hanging out with her brother and sister at Gallup Middle School.

Wash, rinse and spin: Norm Bahe holds his four-month-old
granddaughter Maiara Woody at Aztec Laundry on Tuesday in Gallup.
Along with his wife and daughter, Bahe came to town from Woodsprings
to do their weekly errands. "It's nice tonight, there's no crowd,"
Bahe said and added he normally comes on Saturday. [Photo by Brian
