Cyrus Yazzie
COUSINS Funeral services for Cyrus B.
Yazzie, 24, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 14, at Rollie Mortuary.
Pastor Terrence Calvin will officiate. Burial will follow on family
land in Cousins.
Yazzie died April 6 in Albuquerque. He was born February 24, 1983,
in Gallup into the Edge Water Clan for the Blacksheep Clan.
Yazzie attended Job Corp. He was employed with Labor Concepts
in Albuquerque. His hobbies included basketball, football, and
listening to music. He also was an artist and enjoyed writing.
Survivors include his mother, Emma Lee of Gallup, brother, Bennie
Yazzie Jr. of Albuquerque; sisters, Purcell Lee of Albuquerque,
Cassandra Yazzie of Durango, Colo. and Vanessa Lee of Albuquerque;
grandparent, Zonnie Yazzie of Cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bennie Yazzie Sr.; grandparents,
Bessie Davis and Johnny Davis.
Pallbearers will be Bennie Yazzie Jr., David Yazzie, Charles Neal,
Eric Charley, Ryan Charley, and Marc Yazzie.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Chichiltah Chapter
House.
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Julius Pinto
CHINLE Funeral services for Julius Jay
Pinto will be 10 a.m. Saturday, April 14, at the Catholic Church
in Chinle. Father Blane Greis, OFM, will officiate. Burial will
follow in the Community Cemetery in Chinle.
Visitation will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 14, at the Catholic
Church. A rosary will be recited today, April 13.
Pinto died April 8 in Chinle. He was born May 12, 1965 in Ganado
into the Towering House Clan for the Salt People Clan.
Pinto attended Chinle Boarding School and Many Farms Boarding
School. He continued his education at Kicking Horse in Montana.
He was employed as a rancher in Utah. His livestock and children
were his life.
Survivors include his sons, Brandon Tayah and Derrick Tayah; daughter,
Devina Tayah; mother, Elizabeth Pinto; brothers, Sammie Taliwood
Sr. and Jerry Pinto, both of Chinle, and Randell Begay of Phoenix;
sisters, Isabell of Dulce, N.M., Gloria Benally, Shirley Pinto,
Shirlene Pinto, and Darlene Pinto, all of Phoenix.
Pinto was preceded in death by his father Junior Jay Pinto.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Pinto residence.
Tse Bonito is in charge of arrangements.
Felix Phillips
LOW MOUNTAIN, Ariz. Graveside services
for Felix Phillips, 74, will be at 12 p.m. today, April 13, in
Low Mountain. Pastor Ben Yazzie will officiate. Burial will follow
on a family plot in Low Mountain.
Visitation will be at 11:30 a.m. prior to services.
Phillips died April 8 in Chinle. He was born March 3, 1933 in
Jeddito, Ariz.
Phillips graduated from Fort Sill High School in Lawton, Okla.,
and attended Haskell Institute. He served in the Army from 1956-1958
and retired from the Bureau of Indian Affairs in 1997. Phillips
served as prisident for the local senior center. His hobbies included
spending time at his local senior center, visiting friends and
family, watching sports on TV and tending to his horses.
Survivors include his son, Norman Phillip of Low Mountain; daughter,
Sharon Phillips Begay of Low Mountain; sister, Patricia Hawk of
Oklahoma City; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Phillips was preceded in death by Betty Phillips, Alfred Phillips,
John Phillips, Nancy Phillips, Pete Phillips, Grace Mitchell and
Ruth Uentillie.
Pallbearers will be Ronald Phillips, Harrington Uentillie, Norman
Phillips, Carlyle Tsedah, Brian Kanuho, Jefferson Uentillie, and
Jimi Garcia.
The family will receive relatives an friends at one-half mile
west of Low Mountain School.
Dezbah Manygoats
NAVAJO Funeral services for Dezbah Amber
Manygoats, 20, will be at 2 p.m., Friday, April 13 at St. Michaels
Mission in St. Michaels. Father Ronald Walters, OFM, will officiate.
Burial will follow in the community cemetery in St. Michaels.
Visitation will be at 1 p.m., prior to services.
Manygoats died April 11 in Ft. Defiance. She was born December
9, 1986 in Ft. Defiance into the Zia Clan for the Blacksheep Clan.
Manygoats attended St. Michaels Special Education. She enjoyed
music and watching movies.
Survivors include her mother, Elma Manygoats of Holbrook; brother,
Marlin Shaw of Holbrook; sister, Kaleigh Smith of Holbrook; and
grandparents, Hugh and Mary Manygoats of Navajo, N.M.
Manygoats was preceded in death by her brothers, Samuel Shaw and
Jonathan Smith Jr.
Pallbearers will be Darrell Manygoats, Micheal Manygoats, Jymerson
Manygoats, Derrick Manygoats, Aaron Legah, and Levon Legah.
Tse Bonito is in charge of arrangements.
Mark Nektewa
GALLUP A traditional wake for Mark Reid
Naktewa, 49, will be at 9 a.m. Friday, April 13, at Zuni. Burial
will be at Quincy Panteah's residence, house # 673 in Zuni. Visitation
will be 11:30 a.m. at Bowannie Sub.
Naktewa died April 11 in Gallup. He was born December 7, 1957
in Zuni.
Naktewa attended High School in Zuni. He was a police officer,
dispatcher, and jailer in Zuni. He also worked at the Silver Stallion
as a janitor. He enjoyed watching movies and making ceramics for
people he cared for.
Survivors include his son, Robert Naktewa of Zuni; daughters,
Katie Naktewa and Monica Naktewa; mother, Norma Naktewa of Oklahoma;
brother, Ernest Naktewa of Zuni; sister, Idella Naktewa of Oklahoma.
Naktewa was preceded in death by his father, Walter Naktewa Jr.;
brother, Scott Naktewa; sister, Cathy Naktewa; and ex-wife, Georgiann
Lonjose.
Pallbearers will be family members.
Cope Memorial is in charge of arrangements.
Jonathan Roanhorse
FT. DEFIANCE Funeral services for Jonathan
Allen Roanhorse, 41, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, April 13, at Our
Lady Of Blessed Sacrament in Ft. Defiance. Father Gilbert Schneider,
OFM, will officiate. Burial will follow on Roanhorse Canyon family
plot in Navajo, N.M.
Viewing will be one hour prior to services.
Roanhorse died April 7, in Ft. Defiance. He was born November
4, 1965 in Shiprock into the Bitter Water Clan for Zuni People
Division of Red Running Into Water Clan.
Roanhorse was a graduate of Window Rock High School where he played
basketball. He also attended Northern Arizona University. Roanhorse
worked for Red Lake Chapter House, General Dynamics, High Tech
Industry of Intel Corporation and was a fire fighter. His latest
endeavor was supporting his family as a rancher. He was an avid
reader of novels, intrigued by astronomy, and enjoyed spending
time with his family.
Survivors include his mother, Annie W. Roanhorse of Navajo; brothers,
Allen Roanhorse Jr. of Phoenix, Elmer Roanhorse of Chandler, Ariz.,
and Alonzo Roanhorse of Navajo; sisters, Susie A. Roanhorse of
Ft. Defiance, Ellen Doctor of Phoenix, Elaine Ben of St. Michaels,
and Johanna Roanhorse of Phoenix.
Roanhorse was preceded in death by his father, Allen Roanhorse
Sr., and brother, Darrell Roanhorse.
Pallbearers will be Tolbert S. Howard, Samuel Hardy, Duchesne
M. Roanhorse, Randell Roanhorse, Sean Doctor and Emery Whitegoat.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Roanhorse
family residence in Navajo.
