Child injured: Rito Prieto fills out paperwork with Gallup Police
Officer Benny Gaona near the scene of an accident that left and
severly injured a four-year-old boy on Monday. Prieto, who helped
the boy until medical technicians arrived, says he witnessed a truck
driven by Billie Casuse of Gallup make a partial stop at the intersections
of Jay Street and Dairy Drive before striking the boy. Residents
of the Red Hill Mobile Home Park neighborhood where the incident
occurred say they have been concerned for a while about the driving
habits of people in the area. "I knew this was going to happen one
day," said a resident who lives nearby. [Photo by Brian Leddy/Independent]
