Joann Bailey

GALLUP — Funeral Mass for Joann Evelyn Bailey, 49, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 21, at St. Francis Catholic Church. Father Gerry Steinmetz, OFM, will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.

A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today, April 20, at Rollie Mortuary.

Bailey died April 17, in Gallup. She was born August 14, 1957 in Gallup.

Bailey loved her family and enjoyed going to the casino.

Survivors include her husband, Ray Bailey of Gallup; son, Dino W. Bailey of Gallup; daughter, Dina R. Bailey of Gallup; brothers, Manuel Padilla, Leroy Padilla, and Ray White, all of Gallup; sisters, Alice Montano, Inez Padilla, and Frances Padilla, all of Gallup; one grandchild.

Bailey was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Elouise Padilla; sister, Mary Padilla; grandparents, Rumaldo and Inez Chavez.

Pallbearers will be Dino Bailey, Robert Dunsworth, Leroy Padilla, Sampson Spencer, Patrick Spencer, Robert Encino, Jacob Griego, and Jacob Ray Griego.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


Brandon Chee

MARIANO LAKE — Funeral services for Brandon Nakia Chee, 31, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 21, at Mariano Lake Community Church. Pastor Jerry Yonnie will officiate. Burial will follow at Top Mesa family land in Mariano Lake.

Chee died April 14, in Gallup. He was born January 10, 1976 in Crownpoint into the Clumped Tree Clan for the Salt Clan.

Chee graduated from Thoreau High School in 1996 and attended Universal Technical Institute in Phoenix where he received an Associate Degree in Refrigeration Technology. He was awarded a U.S. Achievement Academy Award. Chee was an outstanding athelete in sports during his high school years. His accomplishments included 1995 State Track and Field (AA, AAA, AAAA), 1993-1994 Native American Allstar game and varsity football player and manager. His hobbies included fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting, and sports. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Survivors include his son, Seth Nakia Martin of Gallup; parents, Jimmy Chee Sr. and Caroline Chee of Mariano Lake; brothers, Jeremy J. Chee of Thoreau, Lucas Chee and Jimmy Chee Jr., both of Mariano Lake; sister, Freda K. Anderson of Phoenix; grandparents, Christine S. Yazzie of Mariano Lake and Minnie Chee of Blue Gap, Ariz.

Chee was preceded in death by his brother, Leremy J. Chee; grandparents, Logan K. Yazzie and Ben Chee.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy J. Chee, Clinton Anderson, Antonio Chee, Sheldon R. Yazzie, Gregg Golden, and Johnson Casemero.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Mariano Lake Chapter House.

Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.


James Yeager

GRANTS — Funeral Mass for James T. Yeager, 68, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 21, at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church. Father Mike Kugler will officiate.

A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m., today, April 20 at Compassion Mortuary.

Yeager died April 17 in Grants. He was born February 2, 1939 in Omaha, Neb.

Yeager was a retired school teacher for the Grants-Cibola School District. He also was a Vietnam Veteren in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife, Lucille V. Yeager of Grants; sons, Christopher Yeager of Henderson, Nev. and Jeremy Yeager of Farmington; daughter, Gail Yeager of Detroit, Mich.; two grandchildren.

Yeager was preceded in death by his mother, Anna Yeager.

Pallbearers will be Harry Little, Del Salazar, Joey Valdez, Nathan McCoy, David T. Castillo and Robert Vallo.

Compassion Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


Emerson Goldtooth Sr.

TSAILE — Graveside services for Emerson Goldtooth Sr., 78, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, April 20, at the Goldtooth Ranch in Tuba City, Ariz.

Goldtooth Sr. died April 17, in Fort Defiance. He was born September 30, 1928 in Greymountain, Ariz. into the Deer Spring Clan for the Red Bottom Clan.

Goldtooth Sr. worked for the BIA forestry as a firefighter and retired from law enforcement as a officer, where he received numerous awards and ceritficates. At the time of his death, he was on the Tsaile/Wheatfields Farm Board.

Survivors include his wife, Irene Goldtooth of Tsaile; sons, Emerson Goldtooth Jr., Eric Goldtooth, Jimmy Goldtooth, Travis Goldtooth, and Emeric Goldtooth; daughters, Linda Hatichi, Gloria Yapi, Angel Quiver, and Emerlene Goldtooth; brothers, Keith Goldtooth, Dennis Goldtooth, Jack Goldtooth, Harry Goldtooth, and Kee Yazzie Goldtooth, all of Tuba City, John Goldtooth and Henry Goldtooth, both of Shiprock; sisters, Lena Canyon and Francine Manygoats, both of Tuba City; 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Goldtooth was preceded in death by his sons, Steven Goldtooth and Emery Goldtooth; daughter, Emerald Goldtooth; parents, Frank and Margaret Goldtooth; brothers, Teddy Goldtooth, Albert Goldtooth, and Frank Goldtooth; sister, Bertha Blackhorse.

Pallbearers will be Travis Goldtooth, Kevin Goldtooth, Emerson Goldtooth Jr., Gabriel Goldtooth, Edward Goldtooth, Richard Quiver, Brian Quiver, and Roman Quiver

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Goldtooth Ranch.

Lamar 'Mickey' Mast

ARKANSAS CITY, KANSAS — Graveside services for Lamar Alexander "Mickey" Mast, 73, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 21, at the Corzine Cemetary in Corbin, Kan. Rev. Steve Allen will officiate.

Mast died April 17, in Caldwell, Kan. He was born June 28, 1933, in Arkansas City, Kan.

Mast graduated from Gallup High School in 1951. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea and was honorably discharged in March 1956. Mast was the first to be licensed to sale Dr. Pepper in the Gallup region. He retired in 1966 and enjoyed playing golf.

Survivors include his step-sons, Greg Eichman of Santa Fe and Chris Eichman of Moreno Valley, Calif.; sister, Anna Belle Kern of Corbin, Kan.

Mast was preceded in death by his parents, Lamar Benjamin and Anna Anita (Moncravie) Mast; sister, Florence Nimitz.


Kee Thompson

CHURCHROCK — Services for Kee Thompson, 81, will be announced at a later date.

Thompson died April 19, in Gallup. He was born Septermber 18, 1925 in Mariano Lake into the Towering House Clan for the Black Streak of Forest Clan.

A family meeting will be at 6 p.m. today, April 20, at the Church Rock Chapter House.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


Elaine Armijo

GALLUP — Services for Elaine Armijo, 83, will be announced at a later date.

Armijo died April 16, in Gallup. She was born February 26, 1924 in St. Louis, Mo.

Compassion Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
