Erna Montoya-Francis
GALLUP Services for Erna Mae Montoya-Francis,
48, will be at 10 a.m., Monday, Aug. 6 at the New Life- New Beginning
Church in Gallup. Bishop John Hill will officiate. Burial will
follow at Memory Gardens in Farmington.
Visitation will be prior to services from 8:30-9:45
a.m.
Montoya-Francis died Aug. 1, 2007 in Gallup.
She was born Sept. 2, 1958 iin Hollister, Calif.
Montoya-Francis graduated from Farmington High
School in 1976 and attended UNM. Her and her husband Robert worked
as ministers for the New Life New Beginning Ministries Church.
Survivors include her husband Robert C. Francis
of Gallup; parents Joseph O. Montoya of El Valle, N.M., Stella
Mae Jim-Valdez; stepfather Samuel B. Valdez, both of Lake Valley,
N.M.; sons Jeremy J. Montoya of Tucson, Eugene T. Czyz of Gallup;
daughters Felicia R. Montoya of Farmington, Lesa M. Montoya of
Tucson; brothers Larry Montoya, Gabriel Valdez, both of Lake Valley,
N.M., Robert Montoya of Abuquerque, Eric Montoya of San Francisco;
sisters Joanne Tausig of Tucson, Sharon Pickering of Salt Lake
City, Kathy Montoya of Hollister, Calif., Diana Montoya of El
Valle, Stephanie Chacon of Albuquerque; and five grandchildren.
Katherine McCabe
WINDOW ROCK Funeral services for Katherine
Leona McCabe, 85, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 6 at the
Christian Reformed Church in Window Rock. Burial will follow at
Fort Defiance Community Cemetery.
McCabe died August 3, 2007 in Gallup. She was
born November 22, 1921 in Rehoboth into the Red Running into the
Water People Clan for the Red Bottom People Clan.
McCabe Worked as a Registered Nurse for the
Window Rock Elementary School. She was involved with her church,
Miss Navajo Pageant and served as a hostess for state and federal
dignitaries. McCabe enjoyed her grand kids, being a home maker,
sewing, and knitting.
Survivors include her sons, Eldon McCabe , Henry
Norman McCabe, Sr. both of Window Rock,; daughter, Carol Dahozy
of Chandler; brother, Henry Whipple, Jr.; sisters, Angeline Allen
of Window Rock and Florence McCabe of Albuquerque; eight grandchildren;
and great-grandchildren.
McCabe was preceded in death by her husband,
J. Maurice McCabe; and parents, Henry Whipple, Sr. and Christine
Whipple.
Pallbearers will be Jason Dahozy, Roger Dahozy, Fred Henley, Jon
McCabe, Sean McCabe, and Henry N. McCabe, Jr.
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Martin Davis
CHURCHROCK Graveside services for Martin
Davis, 40, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 4 at Sunset Memorial
Park. Pastor Norman Chee will officiate.
Davis died July 30, 2007 in Churchrock. He was
born November 16, 1966 into the Start of the Red Streak People
Clan for the Meadow People Clan.
Davis attended Fort Wingate High School and
Gallup High School. He worked in the construction field. His hobbies
included playing basketball.
Survivors include his sons, Derek Davis, Bradford
Davis, Ryan Davis, and Tyler Davis; daughter, Krystin Davis; brothers,
Jasper Davis, Jimmie Davis, Jr., and Tyrone Chavez; sisters, Doris
Davis, Christine Mike, and Marilyn Davis.
Davis was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmie Davis, Sr.
and Nellie Mae Davis; grandparents, Willie and Helen Jim.
Pallbearers will be Derek Davis, Jasper Davis,
Lionel Yazzie, Bradford Davis, Tyrone Chavez, and Jimmie Davis,
Jr.
The family will receive relatives and friends
at the Churchrock Chapter House following the burial.
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Edison Ben
CHINLE Funeral services for Edison Ben,
77, will be at 10 a.m. August 6 at Lady of Fatima Church in Chinle.
Father Blaine will officiate.
Viewing will be one hour prior to services.
Ben died August 1, 2007 in Phoenix. He was born
September 30, 1929 in Gallup into the Bitter Water People Clan
for the Coyote Pass People Clan.
Ben worked for the Rail Road, as a ground keeper,
and Lafonts Thunderbird Lodge in Chinle. He participated in the
Rodeo and enjoyed being with family.
Survivors include his sons, Frankie Ben of Chinle,
Francis Ben of Chinle, and Harrison Ben of Mesa; daughters, Evelyn
Viken of Tacoma Wash. and Shirley Begay of Phoenix; brother, Denny
Sam.
Ben was preceded in death by his wife; parents,
Sam Ben and Ason Tsoi; brother, Thomas Bia.
Cope Memorial is in charge of arrangements.
Hosteen Tallwood
NAVAJO, N.M. Funeral services for Hosteen
Tallwood, 80, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4 at Our Lady
of Fatima Church in Chinle. Father Ken Roy will officiate. Burial
will follow on the family plot in Chinle. Visitation will be one
hour prior to services.
Tallwood died July 31, in Fort Defiance. He
was born April 17, 1927 in Chinle into the Honeycombed Rock People
Clan for the One Who Walks Around People Clan.
Tallwood retired from NFPI as a Plainer Supervisor
after 48 years of service. He received Outstanding Supervisory
Support for the Safety Program as well as other awards and recognitions.
Tallwood was a Native American Church President from 1975-1999
for the Sawmill Chapter. His hobbies include working on vehicles,
traveling, hauling woods, outdoors, and being with family and
friends.
Survivors include his wife, Lavina Tallwood
of Navajo; sons, Leonard Tallwood and Lionel Tallwood, both of
Navajo, Larry Tallwood of Crystal, N.M., Emerson Tallwood and
Elmer Tallwood, both of Sawmill; daughters, Christina Tall wood
of Navajo, Karen Tallwood of Mesa, Cynthia Tallwood of Tempe,
Elvira Tallwood, Christine Tallwood, Victoria McArthur, Charlotte
McArthur, all of Sawmill, and Shirley Berchman of Hunters Point;
brothers, Anselm Bia, Sr. of Sawmill, Carl Begay and Ned Begay
both of Chinle, John Brown, Jr. of Crystal; sisters, Louise Brown
and Pauline Dawes both of Chinle, Gladys Brown of Snowflake, Ariz.,
Selena Jewett of Payson; 28 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
Tallwood was preceded in death by his parents,
Hoskie and Ethel Tallwood.
