Rose Arviso

COYOTE CANYON — Funeral services for Rose Nazbah Arviso, 84, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 9 at Rollie Mortuary Palm Chapel. Father John and Sister Pat will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.

Arviso died Aug. 6. She was born May 23, 1923 in Coyote Canyon into the Bitter Water People Clan for the Red Running into Water People Clan.

Arviso was a homemaker and Navajo Rug Weaver. She enjoyed her spending time with her grandchildren and visiting family and friends.

Survivors include her sons, Marvin Arviso of Tohatchi, Edison Arviso, Lorenzo Arviso, Sr., Frank Arviso, all of Coyote Canyon, and Martin Arviso of Albuquerque; daughters, Rose Garcia of Gallup and Jean Kline of Coyote Canyon; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Arviso was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Arviso, Sr.; parents, Hosteen Bahe Begay and A’Gee Bah Begay; sons, Ernest Arviso and Leonard Arviso; daughter, Catherine Arviso-Morgan; brothers, Jack Yazzie, Jacob Yazzie, Lewis Begay, Leonard Begay, Benson Begay, Wilson Begay, and Art Begay; sister, Mary Begay.

Pallbearers will be Marvin Arviso, Jake Arviso, Harold Manuelito, Jr., Edison Arviso, Lorenzo Arviso, Sr., and Lorenzo Arviso, Jr.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


Leon Redhouse

TEEC NOS POS — Funeral services for Leon K. Redhouse, 91, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 9 at Four Corners Christian Reformed Church in Teec Nos Pos. Burial will follow at the family cemetery in Teec Nos Pos.

Redhouse died Aug. 6, 2007 in Shiprock. He was born Sept. 15, 1915 in Teec Nos Pos.

Redhouse worked for Teec Nos Pos Trading, at a uranium mine, for the Department of Interior and Teec Nos Pos Chapter House.

Survivors include his wife Eva Redhouse; sons, Michael Redhouse, Sr. of Shiprock, Dale Redhouse , James Redhouse, both of Teec Nos Pos, and Robert Redhouse, Sr. of Shiprock; daughters, Jean Redhouse of Teec Nos Pos, Martha Redhouse of Rockville, Md., and Nancy Redhouse of Alexandria, Va.

Pallbearers will be David Jim, Naephan Nez, Jeremiah L. Nez, Neillyn Nez, James Kenneth, Jr., Dale Redhouse, and Wilner Billy.

A reception will follow at Teec Nos Pos Chapter House.


Mary Rose Roan

FORT DEFIANCE —Funeral services for Mary Rose Roan, 70, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 8 at Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Chinle. Father Ron Walters, OFM will officiate. Burial will follow at Chinle Community Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services.

Roan died Aug. 5, 2007 in Fort Defiance. She was born April 13, 1937 in Chinle into the Coyote Pass People Clan into the Bitter Water People Clan.

Roan Received her GED from Window Rock High School. She retired from the IHS in Gallup and Fort Defiance after 33 years of service. Roan was an active member with the Fort Defiance Senior Center, Native American Church, and Our Lady of Blessed Sacrament Church. Her hobbies include sewing, reading, doing arts and crafts, traveling, and listening to music.

Survivors include her husband, Julison Joseph Roan, Sr.; son, David J. Roan, Sr. of Fort Defiance; daughters, Patricia Roan of Mariano Lake, Salome Roan, and Brenda Chee of Globe; brothers, Luther A. Ayze; sisters, Catherine Brown of Chinle and Theresa Belinte of Pinon; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Roan was preceded in death by his parents, Harold J. and Naomi Ayze; sons, Gilbert Roan, Ronald Roan, and Julison J. Roan, Jr.; daughter, Sandra Roan; brothers, Leonard Ayze, Norman Ayze, and Virgil Ayze; sisters, Sarah Kinsel, Josephine Ayze, and Almira Dennison; and grandparents, Tom and Nanabah Tom.

Pallbearers will be family members.

The family will receive relative and friends at Lorraine and Wilson Yazzie’s residence in Chinle.

Silver Creek Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


James Sims-West

GRANTS — Services for James Wade Sims-West, 48, will be announced at a later date.

Sims-West died Aug. 6, 2007 in Oracoke, N.C. He was born Oct. 16, 1958 in Holton, Kansas.
Sims-West was an attorney in Grants.


Richard Rainey

GAMERCO — Services for Richard Dane Rainey, 66, will be announced at a later date.

Rainey died Aug. 6, 2007 in Gamerco. He was born Nov. 6, 1940 in Fort Worth, Texas.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
