Mary James

STANDING ROCK — Funeral services for Mary Billie James, 96, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11 at Rollie Mortuary Chapel. Emerson Louis will officiate. Burial will follow on the family plot in Standing Rock.

James died Aug. 8, 2007 in Crownpoint. She was born January 13, 1911 in Pinedale into the Meadow People Clan for the Bitter Water People Clan.

James was a well known rug weaver, homemaker, and goat herder. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include her sons, Tom B. James of Standing Rock, Jack B. James of Spingville, Ariz., Johnny B. James, Sr. of Ganado, and Mike B. James of Standing Rock; daughters, Helen Jones of Standing Rock; 43 grandchildren; 92 great-grandchildren; and 31 great-great-granchchildren.

James was preceded in death by her husband, John James; sons, Harry B. James, Peter B. James, and Joe B. James; daughters, Esther J. Louis and Juanita Dickie; parents, John and Bah Billie Biggs.

Pallbearers will be Johnnie B. James, Jr., Larson Chaco, Elston Louis, Erland Louis, Epfriem Louis, and Erving D. Kalleco.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Standing Rock Chapter House following the services.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


James Sims-West

GRANTS — Funeral services for James Wade Sims-West, 48, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11 at the First United Methodist Church. Pastor Reuben Thomas, Rev. Richard Danek, and Rev. Thomas Sims will officiate. Burial will follow at Grants Memorial Park.

Sims-West died Aug. 6, 2007 in Oracoke, N.C. He was born Oct. 16, 1958 in Holton, Kansas.

Sims-West was an attorney or Boynton Law Firm in Grants. He received his graduate degree from University of Kansas and his Juris Prudent Law Degree from New York University. Sims-West was active in the First United Methodist Church and the Boy Scouts. He devoted his life to others especially children.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Sims-West of Grants; sons, Cooper Sims-West and Dylan Sims-West both of Grants; brother, Ray West of Stockton, Calif..; and sister, Mary Ann Hartman of Tepeka, Kansas.

Sims-West was preceded in death by his parents, Ned West and Rosalie James West.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Smalley, Jimmy Jones, Cray Russell, Gabe Gallegos, and John Roderick.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
