New Mexico State Highway Department worker Leslie Frank spreads sand and salt on Interstate 40 on Saturday evening at about the 51st mile marker. between Thoreau and Continental Divide. A storm that came through the region coated the road with a sheet of ice that sent many vehicles into the ditches.
