Raymond Malone Jr.
FORT DEFIANCE Funeral services for Raymond Malone Jr.,
51, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11 at the Family Church Assembly
of God Church, Fort Defiance. Rev. William Lee will officiate.
Burial will be in Box Canyon Ranch at Tunnel Springs, N.M.
Malone Jr. died Dec. 6, 2007 in Albuquerque. He was born Aug.
14, 1956 in Fort Defiance into the Mud People Clan for the Red
Running into Water People Clan.
Malone Jr. graduated from Window Rock High School, he was a member
of Southwest Carpenters Union; the National Southwest Bullriding
Association and of AIRCA, NNRCA, Senior Pro Rodeo.
Survivors include wife, Diane Malone of Fort Defiance; sons,
Redmond Malone, Adam Malone of Fort Defiance; daughter, Summer
Malone of Fort Defiance; father, Raymond Malone Sr.; brothers,
Alfred Malone of Fort Defiance, Clarence Malone of Gamerco; sisters,
Julia Williams of Fort Defiance, Edith Yazzie of Mexican Springs,
Carissa Tsosie, Wanda Malone, Gloria Malone, Maggie Wilson, Raeanna
Malon-Brock, all of Fort Defiance.
Malone was preceded in death by his mother, Emma Malone; son,
Raymond Malone III.
Pallbearers will be Manuel Wilson, Emmanuel Wilson, Damon Wilson,
Joseph Malone, Sheldon Yazzie, Malcolm Malone.
The family will receive relatives and friends at The Family Church
Assembly of God, Fort Defiance after services.
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Frank Garfield Sr.
NAHODISHGISH Services for Frank C. Garfield, 86, will
be 10 a.m. Dec. 11 at the New Life Ministery, Crownpoint. Pastor
Bobby Arviso will officiate. Burial will be in Nahodishgish, family
plot.
Garfield died Dec. 5, 2007 in Albuquerque. He was born April
20, 1921 in Mariano Lake into the Deer Spring People Clan for
the Black Streak People Clan.
Garfields employment included being a sheepherder, horse
trainer, BRG/Santa Fe, South Pacific Railroad, US Army Depot,
Fort Wingate, ONEO, CETA, CCC. He was a member of the Native American
Church. His hobbies included horseback riding, singing, visiting
relatives, making friends, socializing, herding sheep and fixing
things.
Survivors include his son, Frank Garfield Jr. of Nahodishgish;
daughters, Pauline Morgan of Crownpoint, Alice McFadden, Ann Garfield
of Nahodishgish, Gaylrene Guerro of Alamo, N.M.; 15 grandchildren;
20 great-grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Donald Howard, Tex Morgan Jr., Leo Thompson,
Harvey Yazzie, Dennis Yazzie, Bernie Begay, Alernate Danny Yazzie.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Nahodishgish
Chapter (Dalton Pass).
Elizabeth Begay
NAVAJO Services for Elizabeth Barney Begay, 91, will be
10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11 at the St. Marys Catholic Church,
Tohatchi. Burial will in Family Plot, Navajo. Viewing will be
9 a.m., one hour prior to service.
Begay died Dec. 7, 2007 in Gallup. She was born Dec. 9, 1915
in Fort Defiance into the Cliff Dwelling People Clan for the Towering
House People Clan.
She was a lifetime rancher, enjoyed arts and crafts, rug weaving,
she loved her animals and worked on her land for many years. Her
other hobbies included being a seamstress, beadwork.
Survivors include hersisters, Ilene Tsoie, Helen Johnson both
of Navajo, Rose Hanson of Tohatchi.
Pallbearers will be family members.
Silver Creek Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
June Maria
PINE HILL Services are pending for June Maria, 95.
Maria died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2007 in Zuni. He was born March
2, 1912 in rural Ramah into the Bitter Water People Clan for the
Apache People Clan.
