Jane Todd

GALLUP — Memorial services for Jane Todd, 78, will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 20 at the Rollie Mortuary Chapel. Rick Brenay will officiate. Private Disposition will be announced at a later date.

Todd died Dec. 13, 2007 in Gallup. She was born Sept. 22, 1929 in Ramah.

Todd was a member of GWNA, was an avid bowler and enjoyed reading.

Survivors include her sons, Troy Merrill; daughters, Charleen Usrey, Karen Sandoval; sisters, Doris Mincey, Judy Dominguez; five grandchildren.

Todd was preceded in death by parents, Elda and A.C. Ruebush, husband, Wendle Merrill, husband, Harry Todd; brother, Verdell Bloomfield.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Lions Hall following the services.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Cancer Assciation in Memory of Willie Knight.


Nellie Martin

PINEDALE — Funeral services for Nellie B. Martin, 80, will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 20 at Cope Memorial Chapel in Gallup. Kee and Arlinda Keyanna will officiate. Burial will be in Pinedale.

Martin died Dec. 16, 2007 in Gallup. She was born Dec. 7, 1927 in Pinedale into the Start of the Red People Clan for the Bitter Water People Clan.

Martin worked for ONEO Program and was a homemaker and rug weaver. She loved to cook and she helped her community. Martin was known well in Pinedale for selling tamales. She loved spending time with grandchildren and doing crossword puzzles.

Survivors include her sons, Raphael Martin, Herman Martin, Murphy Martin, of Pinedale, Frank Martin of Shiprock; daughters, Reria Henry, Lula Martin of Heppner, Oregon; sister, Rhody Becenti of Gallup; 23 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

Martin was preceded in death by her husband, David Martin; son, David Martin Jr.; daughter, Alice B. Mark; parents, Sam and Annie B. Begay; brother, Richard B. Begay; sisters, Bessie Largo, Lucy Brown, Lillian Martin.

Pallbearers will be family members.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Pinedale Chapter House after services.


Nellie Yazzie

WHITE CLAY — Services for Nellie S. Yazzie, 71, will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 20 at the Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament, Fort Defiance. Father Gilbert Schneider, OFM will officiate. Burial will be in family plot, White Clay. Visitation will be one hour prior to services.

Yazzie died Dec. 15, 2007 in White Clay. She was born Nov. 5, 1936 in White Clay into the Edge Water People Clan for the Tangle People Clan.

Yazzie was born in White Clay and lived in White Clay all her life. She was a rug weaver and a rancher and loved horses, cattle, sheep and goats. She loved to help people in need with food and money.

Survivors include sons, Johnson Yazzie of Kayenta, Benjamin Yazzie of Page, Ariz.; daughters, Marie Ballew of Billingsham, Wash., Darlene Yazzie of Phoenix, Matilda Bia of Navajo; brother, Leroy Chee of White Clay; sisters, Della Begay of White Clay, Cecilia Yazzie of Crystal, Hilda Davis of Navajo, Slyvia Begay of Fort Defiance; 22 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

Yazzie was preceded in death by parents, Hoskie Segay, Desbah Chee; sister, Betty Bia; brother, Leonard Chee; son, Albert Woodty.

Pallbearers will be Leland Chee, Benson Bia, Jethro Brown, Jason Yazzie, Sheldon Bia and Norman Bia.

Silver Creek Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


Leander Gray

ALBUQUERQUE — Funeral services for Leander G. Gray, 32, will be 9 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 20 at Rollie Palm Chapel in Gallup. Pastor Don Gilbon will officiate. Burial will be in the private family cemetery, Pinedale. Visitation will be at Rollie Mortuary, Dec. 19, from 3-4:30 p.m.

Gray died Dec. 14, 2007 in Mesita. He was born Aug. 7, 1975 in Crownpoint into the Mud People Clan for the Two Water Flow Together People Clan.

Gray completed high school and attended three years in college at NMSU. He was a DRB field supervisor in network/construction technologies, loss prevention management (LPM) in Albuquerque. His hobbies included golf, basketball, spending time with kids, barbecueing and fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Evangeline Begay; son, Joseph Tyler Gray; daughters, Megan Elizabeth Gray; parents, Rolland Jay Ellsworth Sr., Della Ellsworth, Lucille Salas; brothers, Dallas Ryan Ellsworth, Olin Jay Ellsworth, Nolan Ryan Ellsworth, Michael K. Rico, Christopher Gray, Johnnie Gray; sisters, Terri Lynn Gray, Renee Tsosie, Sherylyne Greene; grandparent, Sam Gray Jr.

Gray was preceded in death by grandparents, Chloe J. Gray, Jay and Alta Ellsworth; brother, Rolland J. Ellsworth Jr. (Rojo).

Pallbearers will be Michael Rico, Virgil Sam, Lawrence Sam, Dallas Ryan Elllsworth and Olin Jay Ellsworth.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Mariano Lake Chapter House after services.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


Eleanor Dzick

GALLUP — Funeral Mass for Eleanor A. Dzick, 87, will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 20 at Sacred Hearth Cathedral. Burial will be in Santa Fe National Cemetery. A rosary will be recited 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19 at Rollie Mortuary.

Dzick died Dec. 16, 2007 in Ellko, Nev. She was born Jan. 6, 1920 in Waukesha, Wis.

Eleanor was the secretary to the superintendent of schools for Gallup McKinley County for 30 years before her retirement. She enjoyed playing bridge with her friends, traveling and being with her grandchildren. Dzick passed away after a lengthy illness.

Survivors include her sons, William E. Dzick of Mason City, Iowa, Walter A. Dzick of Elko, Nev.; five grandchildren.

Eleanor was preceded in death by husband, Walter E. Dzick; parents, Anton Dzick, Frieda Dzick; brothers, Max, Paul, Otto; sisters, Marty, Claire, Helen, Edna, Ruth.

Pallbearers will be William Dzick, Walter Dzick, Tom Butler, Don Holland.

The family will receive relatives and friends after the rosary service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
