Mary Meyer
FARMINGTON Services for Mary Elizabeth Liz
Meyer, 81, of Farmington will be held in Sullivan, Mo., at a later
date.
Meyer died Dec. 21, 2007, at in Farmington. She was born May
24, 1926, in Bonne Terre, Mo.
Meyer was the youngest of nine brothers and sisters. She graduated
from Bonne Terre High School in 1944 and married her high school
sweetheart, Jim Heifner, and was married for 28 years before divorcing,
then she moved to Sullivan to live with her son Keith, who was
the minister at Grace United Methodist Church. She married Gene
Meyer, and they were active in their church in Sullivan. In 2004,
she moved to Farmington.
Survivors include her sons, Barry Heifner of Gallup, Keith Heifner
of Naples, Fla.; one grandchild; several great-grandchildren.
Meyer was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Meyer; parents,
William E. and Edith R. Mayberry; brothers, Foster Mayberry, George
Mayberry, Norman Mayberry, Raymond Mayberry, Robert Mayberry,
Russell Mayberry; sisters, Evelyn and Ruth Mothershead.
Memorials may be sent to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
Alfred Bates Sr.
NAHODISHGISH Graveside services for Alfred H. Bates Sr.,
64, will be at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe. Burial
will be in Santa Fe National Cemetery.
Bates Sr. died Dec. 23, 2007 in Albuquerque. He was born May
12, 1943 in Crownpoint into the Water Flows Together People Clan
for the Zuni People Clan.
Bates Sr. graduated from high school in 1964, served in the U.S.
Army and was stationed in Berlin, Germany. He was an active community
leader, rancher, leather craftsman, and a member of the Nahodishgish
Veterans Association.
Survivors include sons, Alfred Bates Jr. of Crownpoint, Abel
Bates III of Crownpoint; daughter, Alfreda Bates of Crownpoint;
brother, Abel Bates Jr. of North Hollywood, Cali.; sisters, Laverne
Stillhammer, Louise B. Henry, Christine Bates, Lori Bigthumb;
four grandchildren.
Bates was preceded in death by his son, Winston Bates; father,
Abel Bates Sr.; mother, Ella M. Bates; brother, Ben Bates Sr.
Pallbears will be Abel Bates III, John Bates, Nelson Bates, Fritzgerald
Bates, Shawn Holgate and Devin Henry.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Nahodishgish
Chapter, Wednesday, Dec. 26 at 6 p.m.
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Caroline Kenneth
THOREAU Services for Caroline P. Kenneth, 85, will be 10
a.m., Thursday, Dec. 27, at the Prewitt Assembly of God Church,
Prewitt. Pastor Ruth Droll will officiate. Burial will be in Borrego
Pass Community Cemetery, Borrego Pass, N.M.
Kenneth died Dec. 23, 2007 in Gallup. She was born Nov. 15, 1922
in Casamero Lake, N.M.
Survivors include her sons, Herman Kenneth of Thoreau, Johnny
Kenneth Jr. of Haystack, Danny Kenneth of Prewitt, Larry Kenneth
Sr. of Crownpoint, Wesley Don Kenneth of Casamero Lake, Edison
Kenneth, Herbert Kenneth, both of Prewitt; daughters, Patricia
Castillo of Prewitt, Angeline Garcia of Prewitt, Judy K. Martinez
of Haystack; brothers, John Platero Sr. of Thoreau, Leonard Platero
of Newcomb; 29 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren.
Kenneth was preceded in death by her husband, John Kenneth Sr.;
sons, Edison Platero and baby son; parents, Juanito and Hanabah
Platero; brother, Emerson Platero Sr.; sister, Grace Platero.
Pallbearers will be Gerald Kenneth, Lenny Habad Sr., Eugene Kenneth,
Vincent Garcia, Derwin Kenneth, Earl Plummer and Duane Kenneth.
Alfred Francisco
LUPTON Services are pending for Alfred Francisco, 58.
Francisco died Dec. 24, 2007. He was born Oct. 31, 1949 in Fort
Defiance.
A family gathering will be 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27 at the Houck
Chapter House.
Cope Memorial is in charge of arrangements.
