Bennett Smith
BLUEWATER LAKE, N.M. Services for Bennett
Smith, 24, will be at 10 a.m., Friday, Feb. 9 at Rollie Mortuary
in Gallup. Rev. Mark Thomas will officiate. Burial will follow
in the city cemetery in Gallup.
A rosary will be recited today, Feb 8 from 1-4 p.m., at Rollie
Mortuary.
Smith died Feb. 2 in Morris, Ill. He was born July 24, 1982 in
Gallup into the Bitter Water People Clan for the Towering House
People Clan.
Smith was employed as a heavy equipment operator with Blue Ridge.
Survivors include his wife Renanita Delgarito; son Chad Bennett
Smith; daughter Shakeera Mae Smith, all of Bluewater; mother Ernestine
Yazzie; sister Christina Smith of Davenport, Okla.
He was preceded in death by his father Bennie Smith; grandparents
Mary B. Yazzie, Fred Smith Sr., and Rose Smith.
Pallbearers will be Clifford Jarvison, Roderick Smith, Luis Trujillo,
Byron Popplewell, Julius Desiderio and Tommy Morgan.
The family will receive friends and relatives at the Baca Chapter
House in Prewitt.
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
John James
FORT DEFIANCE Services for John E. James,
49, will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 8 at All Saints Catholic Church
in Ganado. Burial will follow at Cornfields Community Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services.
James died Feb. 4 in Payson, Ariz. He was born Jan. 16, 1958 in
Phoenix into the Hopi - Pumpkin People Clan for the Edge Water
People Clan.
James attended Indian School in Laveen, Ariz. His hobbies included
fishing, football and baseball.
Survivors include wife, Elsie Peterson; six stepchildren; brothers,
Jonathan James of Farmington, Virgil James of Phoenix, Edward
James of Second Mesa, Ariz. and Ronald James of Mesa; sisters,
Angelina James of Second Mesa and Tina Dick of Fort Defiance;
26 stepgrandchildren and four stepgrandchildren.
James was preceded in death by father, Justin L. James, Sr. and
mother, Ernestine Comawaima James; brother, Justin L. James, Jr.
Pallbearers will be Daniel James, Richard Dennison, Eduardo Bedoy,
Lionel Dawes, Lawrence Tahy and Emerson Peterson.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Cornfields Community
Chapter House after services.
Tse Bonito Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
