Sadie Martinez
GALLUP Funeral services for Sadie
(Mercedes) Martinez, 69, will be at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 12, at
St. Francis Church.
Martinez died Friday, Feb. 9 in Gallup. She was born June 12,
1937, in Atarque, N.M.
Martinez was a devoted volunteer to the community of Gallup as
a Pink Lady. She was also a member of the Elks Club.
Martinez is survived by her son, Tony Barela of Albuquerque; daughter,
Jennie (Juanita) Carabajal of Albuquerque; brothers, Nick Maritinez,
Nebor Martinez and Andrew Dominguez, all of Gallup; sister, Katie
Rosales of Gallup.
Martinez is preceded in death by her mother, Dolores Martinez;
father, Jose Martinez; sisters, Phylis Lucero and Sylvia Martinez;
son, Joe R. Barela.
The family will receive relatives and friends at St. Domiano Hall
immediately after services.
Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

GRANTS A funeral Mass for Wilfred "Willie"
Salazar Sr., 50, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13, at St. Teresa
of Avilla Catholic Church. Father Alberto Avella will be the Celebrant.
Burial will follow at the Grants Memorial Park. A rosary will
be recited at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 12, at Compassion Mortuary.
Salazar died on Friday, February 9. He was born July 13, 1956
in Grants.
Salazar is survived by his mother, Delfina Gurule Mirabal of Grants;
son, Wilfred Salazar Jr. of Albuquerque; sisters, Gale Jaramillo
of Grants, Prescilla Salazar of Raton, N.M., Tita Valdez of San
Rafael, N.M., Clara Lindquist of Phoenix and Debi Gallegos of
Albuquerque; brother, Anthony Salazar of Milan, N.M.; two grandchildren.
Salazar is preceded in death by his biological father, David Salazar;
father, Reynaldo Mirabal; brother, Harold Salazar; grandparents,
Alex Gurule, Lizardo Salazar and Florentina Salazar.
Pallbearers will be Archie Salazar, Freddie Valdez, Phillip Martinez,
Steven Jaramillo and Manuel Sarracino.
Compassion Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
