Albert Stevens

SHEEP SPRINGS — Graveside services for Albert Tom Stevens, 66, will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 6 at Sheep Springs Cemetery.

Stevens died Dec. 2 in Tacoma, Wash.

Stevens lived in Washington for most of his life and retired from the shipping business.

Survivors include sisters, Minnie Foster of Sheep Springs and Lydia Peshlakai of Crystal.

Stevens was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Stevens, Sr. and Bertha B. Stevens; brothers, Fred. Leroy, Jerome, Lewis, Lloyd, Arnold and Carleton.

Reception will follow services at the Sheep Springs Chapter House.


Ben Castillo

STANDING ROCK — Services for Ben R. Castillo, Sr., 76, will be 10 a.m. today, Jan. 4 at the St. Paul Catholic Church in Crownpoint. Father Kevin Finnegan will officiate. Burial will follow at Crownpoint Community Cemetery.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Jan. 4, prior to services.

Castillo died Dec. 29 in Gallup. He was born Feb. 26, 1930 in Tinian, N.M.

Survivors include his wife Emma J. Castillo; sons, Ben R. Castillo, Harrison R. Castillo, Leslie R. Castillo, Bill R. Castillo; daughters Lucinda R. Castillo, Janice R. Castillo, Anita R. Castillo-Tsosie; brothers Leo R. Castillo, Roy K. Castillo; sisters Alice R. Castillo, Lena R. Toledo, Nellie R. Hicks; and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Jose and Jennie M. Castillo; one son Leon R. Castillo; daughter Linda R. Castillo; one brother and one sister.


Harry Barney

TOHATCHI — Funeral Mass for Harry Barney, 84, will be 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 5 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tohatchi. Burial will follow in family land in Tohatchi.

A rosary will be recited 7 p.m. today, Jan. 4 at St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Barney died Jan. 1 in Gallup. He was born Jan. 15, 1922 in Fort Defiance.

Barney was employed with Santa Fe Railroad and retired after 25 years from the Navajo Nation Water Development Department. He was a member of the NAC and enjoyed spending time with his family.

Survivors include wife, Martha Arviso; sons, Herman and Ray; daughters, Minnie Ahasteen, Carole Tom, Sadi Roan, Shirley and Lucinda Barney; brother, Eddie Barney; sister, Ethel O'Brien; 23 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Barney was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Nora Barney; brother, Freddie Barney and sister, Annie Harry.

Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.


Rosemary Hale

OASK SPRINGS, Ariz. — Services for Rosemary B. Hale, 74, will be at 10 a.m., Friday, Jan. 5 at St. Michaels Mission. Father Gilbert will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Michaels. Viewing will be one hour before services at the mission.

Hale died Jan. 3 in Fort Defiance. She was born Nov. 6, 1922 in Albuquerque.

Hale was from Laguna Pueblo but lived most of her life on the Navajo Reservation. She graduated from Gallup High School and went on to Haskell Indian School. She worked for the BIA for 32 years before retiring. She was a member of the Kateri Circle at St. Michaels and was an active church member. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, John E. Hale; son, Franklin Hale; daughters Barbara Yellowhair and Michelle Hale; brother Dennis Burns; 5 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Susie Burns; brothers Douglas and Arthur L. Burns and one sister Ina Analla.

Pallbearers will be Aaron Yellowhair, Adrian Arnett, Bradley Hale, Fred Analla, Nathan Pryor and Anthony Boone.

Tse Bonito Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


Tom Etcitty Sr.

CHURCH ROCK, N.M. — Services for Tom Etcitty Sr., 74, will be at 10 a.m., Friday, Jan. 5 at Cope Memorial Chapel in Gallup. Pastor Lambert Perry will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.

Visitation will be today, Jan 4 from 4-6 p.m., at Cope Memorial.

Etcitty died Dec. 28 in Church Rock. He was born Aug. 28, 1932 in Naschitti into the Towering House People Clan for the One Walks Around People Clan.

Survivors include his wife Lucy Etcitty; sons James Etcitty, Robert Etcitty Wilbert Etcitty and Alfred Etcitty; daughters Darlene Denetso and Virginia Perry; sisters Emily Turner, Mary Jane Ives, and 12 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by Fred, Frank, Joe, Roy Etcitty, Michael Benallie, Amelia Nilchee, Arlene Etcitty, Marie King, Pauline Martarello, Evelyn O'Ray, John Etcitty and Nellie Mary Benallie.

Pallbearers will be Ira Hays and the USMC Honor Guard.

The family will meet at the Church Rock Chapter House after services and burial.

Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.


John Clifford

GRANTS — Services for John Clifford, 57, will be announced at a later date.

Clifford died Dec. 31, 2006 in Grants. He was born May 6, 1949.

Compassion Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


George Cinta

GRANTS — Services for George A. Cinta, 73, will be announced at a later date.

Cinta died Jan. 2, 2007 in Grants. He was born June 27, 1933.

Compassion Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
