Marquita Mayes
GALLUP Funeral services for Marquita
Rochelle Mayes, 18, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 12, at St.
Francis Catholic Church. Father Lalo will officiate. Visitation
will be from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 11. Burial will be
at Sunset Cemetery in Gallup.
Mayes died Saturday, Jan. 6 in Gallup. She was born on March 1,
1988 in Gallup.
Mayes was a 2006 graduate of Gallup High School. She planned to
start cosmetology classes. She enjoyed being with family and friends,
and she loved to shop for clothes.
Mayes is survived by her mother, Cherie King; father, Troy King
Sr.; step-father, Joe Lockhart; brothers, Troy B. King Jr. and
Gary King; grandmothers, Julia Mayes and Jimmie Carole Willis;
grandfather, Lonnie Hodges.
Mayes was preceded in death by her grandfather, Carl Mayes Sr.;
great-grandmother, Lillie Belle King.
Pallbearers will be Julian Mayes, Thomas Mayes Jr., Brandon Lopez,
John Paradise, Dionne Esparza and Mandy Vargas.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Gallup Elks
Club following services.

Loretta King Begay
IYANBITO, N.M. Funeral services for Loretta
Caroline King Begay, 67, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 13,
at the Joshua Generation Church. Rev. Clyde Clark will officiate.
Visitation will be from 3 to 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12. Burial will
be at Sunset Memorial Park.
King Begay was born into the Bitter Water People Clan and for
the Towering House People Clan.
King Begay attended Iyanbito Day School. She completed a five-year
program at Intermountain Indian School. She attended a retail
management vocational school. She worked as a housing assistant
technician in Carson City, Nev. and Denver, Colo. She was also
a homemaker.
King Begay is survived by her husband, Nelson Luke Begay Sr. of
Iyanbito; sons, Van Ernie Begay and Neson Luke Begay Jr. of Iyanbito;
daughters, Doris J. Charley, Delphina J. Begay, Dorsilla J. Begay
of Iyanbito and Dornelda J. Begay of Manuelito; brother, Leonard
King of Iyanbito; sisters, Matilda Yazzie, Geraldine King, Eleanor
Duffy of Iyanbito, Victoria Mitchell of Gallup, Evelyn King of
Ft. Wingate; 27 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren.
King Begay was preceded in death by her parents, Woody and Delphine
King; brother, Daniel K. Henry; sister, Lorraine Keevama.
Pallbearers will be Marvin K. Charley, Reginald Mitchell, Juluis
Martin, Frederick Begay, Roderick Keevama and Vance King.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Joshua Generation
Church.

Eddie Garcia
HAYSTACK, N.M. Funeral services for Eddie
Gracia Jr., 32, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 12, at the Prewitt
Assembly of God Church. Pastor Edward King will officiate. Burial
will be at Grants City Cemetery.
Garcia died Saturday, Jan. 6, in Prewitt. He was born on April
16, 1974 in Gallup into the Mescalero Apache Clan and for the
Meadow People Clan.
Garcia attended Baca Boarding School, Ft. Wingate Boarding School,
Thoreau and Grants high schools. He worked in the construction
industry. He enjoyed being with family.
Garcia is survived by his daughter, Brittony Dawn Lynn Garcia
of Grants; father, Eddie Garcia Sr. of Prewitt; mother, Jennie
L. Garcia of Haystack; brother, Marvin Lamone of Haystack; sisters,
Genevieve Chee of Redrock, Geneva Garcia of Albuquerque, Treva
Garcia of Tohatchi, Tanisha, Valencia and Vanessa Garcia, all
of Prewitt.
Garcia was preceded in death by his brother, Reggie Garcia; grandparents,
Mary M. Yazzie, Jimmy Yazzie and Helen Long.
Pallbearers will be Marvin Lamone, Darrell Yazzie, John Jones
Platero, Larry Martinez, Ronald Sardo and Randy Sardo.
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Leroy Jim
GRANTS Funeral services for Leroy Jim
Jr., 21, are pending and will be announced at a later date.
Jim died Tuesday, Jan. 9, in Grants. He was born Jan. 10, 1985
in Phoenix.
