Roger Cellicion
ZUNI A traditional wake for Roger R.
Cellicion, 71, will be at the family home at #10 Laweka Drive
in Zuni. Burial will be Saturday at the old cemetery in Zuni.
Cellicion died Jan 11 in Gallup. He was born March 6, 1934 in
Zuni.
Cellicion granduation from St. Anthony Indian School. He worked
for the Forest Service in California and was a firefighter. He
was a silversmith and a religious leader in his kiva group and
in his medicine society. He traveled throughout the U.S. with
several dance groups of Zuni and was the founder and directer
of The Cellicion Traditional Zuni Dancers, who performed at Gallup
Ceremonial many times. His hobbies included watching football
and pro-wrestling.
Survivors include his wife Lela Cellicion; son Fernando Cellicion;
daughters, Angie Johnson and Carmella Cellicion, eight grandchildren
and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents May Kaweshudsa and Estinate
Cellicion; sons Ervice Phillip, Lindsey Ray; brothers Arnold,
Oliver and Dexter and one sister Marceline Lonjose.
Pallbearers will be family members.
Leroy Jim
GRANTS Services for Leroy James Jim Jr.,
21, will be at 10 a.m., today, Jan. 13 at Compassion Mortuary
Chapel. Burial will follow at Grants Memorial Park.
Jim died Jan. 9 in Grants. He was born Jan 10, 1985 in Phoenix
into the Mexican People Clan for the Tangle People Clan.
Jim was a resident of Grants since 1992. He went to Grants schools
and was active with the ROTC and track and field programs. He
was a mechanic, welder and part-time medicine man.
Survivors include Dee Yazzie of Pinon, Ariz.; father, Leroy Jim
Sr., of Pinon; stepfather James White Sr.; sisters Sandra Jim
and Melody White; brother James White Jr.
He was preceded in death by his mother Rita Mae White.
Compassion Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Betsy Weekoty
ZUNI Services for Betsy Weekoty, 54,
were on Monday, Jan. 8 at her residence in Zuni.
Weekoty died Jan. 7 in Zuni. She was born April 17, 1952 in Zuni.
She was employed at Halona Plaza for 13 years and was well-known
in the community.
Survivors include her husban Lubert Lasiloo of Zuni; daughters
Melanie Weekoty, Desiree Weekoty, Sylvia Nastacio, sisters Anna
Nieto, Melvina Romancito, both of Zuni, Erma Luna of Phoenix;
and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Alma Pantea,
and one sister Sarita Panteah.
Jereme Leyba
GALLUP Services for Jereme Joseph Leyba,
18, will be at 10 a.m., Monday, Jan. 15 at Sacred Heart Cathedral.
The Very Rev. Lawrence O'Keefe will officiate.
A rosary will be at 7 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 14 at Sacred Heart Cathedral.
Leyba died Jan. 4 in Phoenix. He was born May 16, 1988 in Gallup.
He enjoyed NASCAR, watching the 49ers, music, and playing Texas
Hold 'em.
Survivors include his parents Sam Leyba and Bernice Lujan, both
of Gallup; daughter Alexis Leyba of Gallup; brothers Robert Duckett
and Eric Leyba, both of Gallup; grandparents Vickie Leyba of Las
Vegas and Joe. A. Lujan of Gallup.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Robert Leyba and
Louise Lugan.
Pallbearers will be Tony Lopez, Pat Lujan, Victor Lujan, Luke
Sherman, Tom Flroes and Richard Lopez
Donations may be made at any Pinnacle Bank in Gallup in the name
of Jereme Leyba.
Compassion Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Henry Tso
TOHLAKAI Services for Henry Tso, 52,
will be at 10 a.m., Monday, Jan. 15 at Cope Memorial Chapel. Rev.
Dennis Gardner will officiate. Burial will follow at the Tohatchi
Community Cemetery.
Tso died Jan. 9 in Tohlakai. He was born April 5, 1974 in Gallup
into the Bitter Water People Clan for the Black Streak People
Clan.
Tso enjoyed watching his livestock, watching PBR, wrestling, the
Washington Redskins, taking walks, and being around family and
friends.
Survivors include his daughter Virginia Notah of Gallup; mother
Mary M. Tso of Tohlakai; brothers Jerry M. Tso Sr., Harry Tso,
Larry Tso, Arnold Tso, Gary Tso, all of Tohlakai; sisters Julia
Tso, Eleanor Tso, Virginia Barber, Patricia Tso, all of Gallup,
Charlotte Tso and Elyiea Desiderio, both of Gallup; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Tso and one brother
Raymond Tso.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Tso Jr., Terry Tso, Perry Tso, Thurman
Chee, Harold Tso and Harris Tso.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Twin Lakes
Chapter House after services.
Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
William Vidal
GALLUP Services for William Vidal of
Gallup will be announced at a later date. No further information
was available.
Alice Smith
OLD DEER SPRINGS Servies for Alice Smith,
106, will be announced at a later date.
Smith died Jan. 11 in Gallup. She was born July 1, 1900 in Mexican
Springs.
A family meeting will be at the Twin Lakes Chapter House today,
Jan. 13 at 5 p.m.
Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
