Jimmie George, Sr.
WOODSPRINGS, Ariz. Services for Jimmie
John George, Sr., 66, will be 10 a.m., today, Jan. 24 at St. Michaels
Catholic Mission in St. Michaels. Father Gilbert will officiate.
Burial will follow at Kinlichee Community Cemetery.
George was born Mar. 18, 1940 in Woodsprings, Ariz., into the
Charcoal Streak Divison Running Into the Red Water People Clan
for the Black Charcoal Streak People Clan.
George attended International Indian School and retired after
working as a heavy equipment operator. He was a medicine man and
enjoyed cattle ranching.
Survivors include wife, Martha George; sons, Leory George, Laroy
George, Elroy George, Peterson Morgan, George Morgan and Timothy
George; daughters, Coleen George, Mary Ann Baloo, Eleanor Morgan
and Dolly Morgan; brother, Herman George; sisters, Betty Rose
Thompson, Ella Mae Vanwinkle and Gladys Yazzie; 49 grandchildren
and 12 great-grandchildren.
George was preceded in death by his sons, Jimmie George, II, Jimmie
George, III, parents, John George and Lucille George; daughter,
Wanda Morgan and sister, Nona George.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Jimmie George,
Sr. residence in Woodsprings.
Silver Creek Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Tom Stevens
HOUCK Services for Tom Leslie Stevens,
82, will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 25 at San Anselm Catholic Mission
Church in Houck. Burial will follow in Houck.
Stevens died Jan. 17 in Burntwater, Ariz. He was born April 10,
1924 in Houck into the Black Streak of Forest People Clan for
the Towering House People Clan.
Stevens attended Catholic Mission School in 1929 and served in
the U.S. Marine Corp. for four years. He was employed with the
railroad and retired after 30 years at Burntwater Trading Post
as a clerk. He enjoyed staying at home after retiring.
Survivors include brothers, Raymond Stevens of Houck and Phillip
Stevens of Phoenix; sisters, Eunice B. Stevens and Agnes Barker,
both of Houck; 17 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Stevens was preceded in death by his daughter, Renee Rodriguez
and parents, Jim and Cheehasbah Stevens.
Pallbearer will be the Twin Warriors Society Veterans Association.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Houck Chapter
House after services.
Silver Creek Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Raymond Martinez, Sr.
GALLUP Services for Raymond Ralph Martinez,
Sr., will be Thursday, Jan. 25 at Cope Memorial Chapel, with the
rosary being recited at noon and visitation lasting until 3 p.m.
Martinez died Jan. 21 in Gallup. He was born June 15, 1944 in
Tucumcari.
He worked at Cowboy's Saloon, The Palomino Saloon, Talk of the
Town, Sagebrush Liquors, The Esquire and Luna's Taxi. He was a
songwriter and drummer for many years for many local bands, including
Flashback.
Survivors include his wife Etta Rose Lee; sons, Raymond Ralph
Martinez Jr., of Fort Collins, Colo., Joey Ray Martinez, Jose
Cruz Martinez, both of Gallup, Larry Martinez of Zuni; daughters
Maria Elena Martinez of Pierce City, Mo., Lisa Martinez of El
Cajon, Calif., Cerrine Nez and Mary Mae Lee, both of Gallup; brothers
Richard Martinez of San Francisco, Calif., Robbie Martinez of
Tucson; sisters Lorinda Chavez from Tucumcari, Sylvia Martinez
of Wichita, Kan.; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jose Cruz Martinez and
Adela Romero Martinez; brothers Jepe Martinez, Tony Martinez and
one sister Annie Rivera.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Tsayatoh
Chapter House after visitation and services.
Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Margaret Witzman
FARMINGTON Services for Margaret Witzman,
73, will be announced at a later date.
Witzman died Jan. 21 in Farmington. She was born Jan. 3, 1935
in Gallup.
