Chee Nabahe
ALBUQUERQUE Services for Chee Nabahe,
73, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30 at the Naschitti Christian
Reform Church in Naschitti. Phillip Destea will officiate. Burial
will follow at the private family plot in Naschitti.
Visitation will be 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 29 at Cope Memorial Chapel
in Gallup.
Nabahe died Jan. 25 in Albuquerque. He was born July 22, 1933
in Long Lake (Chuska Mountains), N.M. into the Red Running Into
the Water People Clan for the Within His Cover People Clan.
Nabahe attended Toadlena Boarding School and Albuqueque Indian
School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Post-Korean Conflict.
He was a mason with the Brick Layers Union.
Survivors include wife, Elise Nabahe; brothers, Anthony Nabahe
and Alfred Nabahe, both of Shiprock, Kenneth Nabahe of Teec Nos
Pos; sisters, Juanita Nabahe of Naschitti, Nellie Witherspoon
and Gloria Nabahe of Salt Lake City.
Nabahe was preceded in death by parents, Jacquin Nabahe and Flora
Belle Nabahe; Truman Nabahe, Joe Nabahe, Paul Nahabe, Jacquin
Nabahe Jr. and Jean Montoya.
Pallbearers will be Delfred Edsitty, Alfred Edsitty, Lemuel Edsitty,
Rufus Nabahe, Matthew Nabahe and Lenair Nabahe.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Juanita Nabahe's
residence in Naschitti after services.
Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Iliene Benally
BECENTI, N.M. Services for Iliene Becenti
Benally, 76, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30 at Tsin'neez'chooz
Church of God in Becenti. Evanglist Mike Lee will officiate. Burial
will follow at family land in Milk Lake, N.M.
Benally died Jan. 24 in Crownpoint. She was born Feb. 5, 1930
in Rehoboth into the Towering House People Clan for the Black
Streak Forest People Clan.
Survivors include mother, Lizzie Ayze Becenti; husband, Harry
Benally of Crownpoint; sons, Eric Benally of Crownpoint, Marvin
Benally and Norman Benally, both of Becenti, and Watson Benally
of Churchrock; six grandchildren.
Benally was preceded in death by his father, David Becenti.
Pallbearers will be Marvin Benally, Eric Benally, Norman Benally,
Watson Benally, Shawn Benally and Shane Benally.
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Katherine Curley
UPPER FRUITLAND, N.M. Services for Katherine
Pioche Curley, 78, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30 at Rollie
Mortuary Chapel in Gallup. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial
Park in Gallup.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 29, at Rollie
Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be 7 p.m. Jan. 29 at Rollie Mortuary
Chapel.
Curley died Jan. 26 in Albuquerque. She was born Feb. 23, 1928
in Toadlena into the Red Running Into The Water People Clan for
the Sleep Rock People Clan.
Curley attended St. Catherines High School in Santa Fe and Marion
Indian College. She was employed with BIA Gallup Dormand and Fort
Wingate Elementary. Her hobbies included collecting Elvis Presley
memorabila, listening to KTNN and working on puzzles. She loved
cats.
Survivors include sons, Herman Curley Jr. of Upper Fruitland and
Cleofus Curley of Church Rock; daughters, Pasquelita Rose White
and Herma C. Clah, both of Upper Fruitland; brother, Albert Pioche
Sr. of Window Rock; sister, Esther P. Saucedo of Gallup; 10 grandchildren
and five great-grandchildren.
Curley was preceded in death by father, Robert Pioche Sr. and
mother, Habah Y. Pioche; brothers, Robert Pioche, Jr., William
C. Pioche and Wilbert F. Pioche; sisters, Carmelita M. Pioche.
Pallbearers will be Cleofus Curley, Albert Pioche Jr., Ian Pioche,
Steve Saucedo, Franklin Sands and Brandon Benally.
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
