James Carson
GALLUP Memorial services for James "Kelly"
Carson, 47, will be at a later date.
Carson died July 8, 2007 in Gallup. He was born November 10, 1959
in Gallup.
Carson attended school in Gallup before he moved to Farmington.
He was employed with the Daily Times Newspaper. Carson enjoyed
Nascar, football, and visiting with family.
Survivors include his mother, Ivy Ramona Carson of Gallup; brothers,
Gary B. Carson of Gallup and Brian K. Carson of Phoenix; sister,
Colleen McGuire of Gallup.
Carson was preceded in death by his father, James Bernard Carson;
grandparents, Richard and Viola Carson, and Joe and Waltina Merrill.
Joe Garcia
GRANTS Funeral Mass for Joe A. Garcia,
79, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 12 at St. Teresa of Avila
Catholic Church. Father Alberto Avella will officiate. Burial
will follow at Grants Memorial Park with military honors by VFW
Lodge 3221.
Visitation will be from 12 noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 11 at
Compassion Mortuary. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday,
July 11 at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church.
Garcia was a lifetime member of American Legion Lodge 80 and the
Disabled American Veterans. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army
serving during the Korean Conflict.
Garcia died July 8, 2007 in Albuquerque. He was born Sept. 10,
1927 in Arboles, Colo.
Survivors include his wife, Tonita Martinez Garcia of Grants;
sons, Fred N. Garcia of Archbald, Penn., Steve L. Garcia of Elko,
Nevada, and Jim G. Garcia of Albuquerque; daughter, Erin Garcia
of Grants; brothers, Toby Garcia of Grants and Joe Manuel Garcia
of Los Lunas; four grandchildren.
Garcia was preceded in death by his parents, Celistino Garcia
and Sara Gallegos Garcia; brother, Epiminio Garcia; and sister,
Mary Chavez.
Pallbearers will be Joel Garcia, Charlie Lujan, Antonio Gonzales,
Raymond Garcia, John Garcia, and Isaac Salazar.
Virgina Francis
FORT DEFIANCE Funeral services for Virginia
Francis, 55, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 12 at the United
Methodist Church in Window Rock. Rev. Roger Tsosie will officiate.
Burial will follow in Fort Defiance Cemetary.
Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. (MDT) at Silver Creek Mortuary.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. following the visitation.
Francis died July 8, 2007 in Fort Defiance. She was born Sept.
29, 1951 in Fort Defiance into the Red Running into the Water
Clan for the Walks Around Clan.
Francis completed her GED and was employed at St. Michael's Special
Education for eight years. She enjoyed cooking, outdoor activities,
and she was a host during family functions.
Survivors include her husband, Ronald Halona of St. Michaels;
son, Ali O. Detsoi of Fort Defiance; daughters Rhonda V. Halona
of Window Rock and Valerie Detsoi of Tempe; brothers, Wilson Nez
of Espinola, NM, Larry Johns of Gallup, and John Francis, Jr.
of St. Michael's; sisters, Elvira Begaye of St. Michael's, Verna
Joe of Phoenix, and Joann Francis of Surprise, Ariz.; and six
grandchildren.
Francis was preceded in death by her parents, John Francis, Sr.
and Dorothy Francis; sisters, Ethel Rhead and Deloris Francis.
Pallbearers will be Darryl J. Begaye, Odith S. Nez, Obediah J.
Jones, Nemiah M. Joe, Donavan M. Joe, and Lydell Begaye.
A reception will be at the Fort Defiance Chapter House following
the services.
Silver Creek Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Nellie Jones
CHINLE Services for Nellie D. Jones,
71, will be announced at a later date.
Jones died July 8, 2007 in Chinle. She was born March 13, 1936
in chinle into the Coyote Pass People Clan for the Towering House
People Clan.
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangments.
