Nellie Jones

CHINLE — Funeral Services for Nellie Dee Jones, 71, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 13 at the Chinle Grace Fellowship Church. Daniel Smiley will officiate. Burial will follow at Chinle Cemetery.

Jones died July 8, 2007 in Chinle. She was born March 13, 1936 in Chinle into the Coyote Pass People Clan for the Towering House People Clan.

Jones was employed with Chinle Unified School District for 23 years.

Survivors include her sons, Melvin Neel, Sr., Paul D. Jones, Sr., and Terry L. Jones; daughters, Lisa Silversmith, Amcita Toledo, Jeannie Baldwin, and Amanda Baldwin; 23 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Jones was preceded in death by Harry D. Begay, Dorothy D. Begay, and Thelma Begay.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Neel, Melvin Neel, Jr., Jermaine Jones, Brandon Jones, Torres Jones, and Jared Toledo.

The family will meet at 6:30 p.m. today, July 12 at Marie Begay's residence in Chinle.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


Ernie Shack

TOHLAKAI — Funeral Services for Ernie Shack, Jr., 43, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 13 at Rollie Mortuary. Rev. Dennis Gardener will officiate. Burial will follow in Gallup City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 to 4:30 p.m. today, July 12 at Rollie Mortuary.

Shack died July 7, 2007 in Tohatchi. He was born March 7, 1964 in Gallup into the Waters Edge People Clan for the Salt People Clan.

Shack attended Twin Lakes Elementary and Tohatchi High School. He was employed with T&R Market as a landscaper. His hobbies include basketball, fishing, camping, telling jokes, and listening to a variety of music.

Survivors include his wife, Debra Jimm of Tohatchi; son, Isaiah Shack of Michigan; daughters, Natasha Shack, Latasha Shack, both of Gallup; brothers, Raymond Shack, Raynard Shack, both of Tohlakai and Eric Shack of Gallup.

Shack was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Rebecca Shack; and grandparents, Artoy Willie and Addie Willie.

Pallbearers will be Raymond Shack, Raynard Shack, Eric Shack, Ervin Yazzie, Alvin Yazzie, and Thurman Chee.

A reception will follow at Twin Lakes Chapter following services.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


Dol Wood

COUSINS — Funeral services for Dol Tom Wood a.k.a. Tom Yazzie, 88, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 13 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cousins. Father Walter will officiate. Burial will be in the family plot at Smooth Mountain in Cousins.

Wood died July 7, 2007 in Zuni. He was born in 1919 in Cousins into the Black Streak of Forest People Clan for the Meadow People Clan.

Wood was employed with Vanderwagen's Ranch and retired from McKinley County Road Construction. His hobbies included riding horses, sheepherding, and ranching.

Survivors include his wife, Danasbah Wood of Cousins; son, Leslie Tom of Vanderwagen; daughter, Marilyn Skeet of Cousins; brother, Frank Brown of Red Rock; sister, Rosanne Sam of Churchrock; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Wood was preceded in death by his father, John Luck; and sister, Maude Yazzie.

Pallbearers will be Ivan Skeets, Greg Vanderwagen, John Vanderwagon, Arnold Dale, Delvin Dale, and Felix Joe.

The family will receive relative and friends at Calvin and Marilyn Skeet's residence.

Cope Memorial is in charge of arrangements.


Thomas Fordyce

GALLUP — Services for Thomas Wayne Fordyce, 51, will be at a later date.

Fordyce died July 10, 2007 in Gallup. He was born October 6, 1955.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
