David Mitchell, Sr.
FORT DEFIANCE Funeral services for David
Mitchell, Sr., 80, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 20 at Our Lady
of Blessed Sacrament Church in Fort Defiance. Father Ronald Walters
and Deacon Daniel Martin. Burial will follow at Veterans Memorial
Cemetery in Fort Defiance.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services. A rosary will be
recited at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of Blessed Sacrament Church.
Mitchell, Sr. died July 16 in Fort Defiance. He was born March
9, 1927 in Chinle into the Towering House People Clan for the
Water Flows Together Clan.
Mitchell, Sr. was a U.S. Army Veteran, Member of the All Indian
Rodeo Association (Gold member #48), Board of Directors, Vice
President, and a parent sponsor and supporter. His hobbies include
drawing, training horses, and traveling. He was a carpenter, electrician,
and a handy man. Mitchell retired from Window Rock Unified School
District as a Maintenance Supervisor.
Survivors include his wife, Rose Mitchell; son, David Mitchell,
Jr.; daughters, Gloria Mitchell, Geraldine Watson, Gwendowlyn
Mitchell, and Priscilla Mitchell; brother, John Mitchell; sister,
Mary Tsosie; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Mitchell was preceded in death by his parents, Billy and Rachel
Jones Mitchell; daughter, Gloria Mitchell.
Pallbearers will be Glenn Slivers, Mychal Slivers, Joaquin Watson,
Sr., Joaquin Watson, Jr., Fred Slivers, and Derrick Saganitso.
Silver Creek Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Adrian Harper
LOS LUNAS Services for Adrian Harper,
81, were July 7 at Calvary Temple Assembly of God in Albuquerque.
Rev. Clyde Johnson and Rev. Ken George officiated. Burial followed
at Sunset Memorial.
Harper died July 3. He was born November 17, 1925 in Ash Grove,
Missouri.
Harper was the pastor of Gallup First Assembly of God Church from
1960 to 1976.
Survivors include his wife, Lila of Bosque Farms; sons, Rudy Harper
of Seattle, Wash. and Steve Harper of Gallup; daughters, Lynn
Davis of Los Lunas and Darlene Logan of Bosque Farms; five brothers;
four sisters; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
