Nathan Yazzie
TOHLAKAI Services for Nathan Yazzie,
21, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 2, at Rollie Mortuary. Reverend
Dennis Gardner will officiate. Burial will follow at the city
cemetery in Gallup.
Yazzie died May 28 in Tohlakai. He was born December 11, 1985
in Gallup into the Water Edge Clan for the Bitter Water Clan.
Yazzie graduated from Tohatchi High School in2006. He enjoyed
playing with his rattle and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his parents, Elta Yazzie of Tohlakai and Lavon
Wilson of Fort Defiance; brothers, Alvin Yazzie and Delvin Yazzie
both of Tohlakai; sister, Kimberly Long of Tohlakai; grandmother,
Etta Yazzie of Tohlakai.
Yazzie was preceded in death by his brothers, Melvin Wilson and
Byron Shorty; sister, Baby Girl; grandfather, Ben Kee Yazzie;
great grandparents, Artoy Willie and Addie Willie.
Pallbearers will be Ervin Yazzie, Delvin Yazzie, Alvin Yazzie,
and Vanessa Smith.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Twin Lakes
Chapter House after services.
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Leonard Peshlakai
KING, Wis. Funeral services for Leonard
B. Peshlakai, 85, were May 31, at Wisconsin Veterans Home, Main
Chapel in King. Reverend John Schmidt officiated. Burial was in
the Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
Peshlakai died May 27, in Waupaca, Wis. He was born August 11,
1921 in Tohatchi.
Peshlakai served in the U.S. Navy as a Cpl. in WWII.
Survivors include his sisters, Rena Plummer of Coyote Canyon.
Peshlakai was preceded in death by his parents, John and Marie
(Begay) Peshlakai; brothers, Sam Silversmith, Len Peshlakai, and
Frank Silversmith; sisters, Kathryn Peshlakai, Nesbah Emerson,
and Rose Plummer.
Delmar Chalk
FARMINGTON Memorial services for Delmar
Eugene "Gene" Chalk, 87, was at 11 a.m. May 28, at First
United Methodist Church in Farmington. Pastor Kimberly Dawn Kinsey
officiated.
Chalk died May 25 in Farmington. He was born Nov. 2, 1919 in Clovis,
NM.
Chalk served on the Gallup City Council for 10 years. He owned
and operated the Dairy Queen and the Credit Bureau in Gallup.
Chalk served in the US Army Air Corps during WWII. He was a member
of the Gallup Masonic Lodge and a Shriner. He also was a member
of the Gallup Elks Lodge. Chalk enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his wife Frankie Conley Chalk of Farmington;
sons, David E. Chalk of Daphne, Ala.; daughters, Christine Nechero
of Gallup; step daughter, Cathy Hallock of Flora Vista, NM; six
grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Chalk was preceded in death by his wife, Mariette Stober Chalk;
brothers, Albert Chalk and Dean Ray Chalk; sister, Jewell Willey.
