Classic chrome: ABOVE: Alex Alletorie, 4, checks out the
candy-apple red 1948 Angela at the Indian Capital Car show held
at Amigo Auto in Gallup Saturday morning. Painting a car candy-apple
red is a complicated process of layering gold or silver paint under
red and cannot be touched up properly when dings occur. To fix dings
in such paint, the entire car must be repainted. The owner of the
vehicle, Tom Nodzak, estimated that it would cost nearly $10,000
to repaint the car. BELOW: Hoods were lifted and visitors wondered
among the cars at the Indian Capital Car Show Saturday. One car
owner claimed an engine that ran with over 1,000 hp and guzzled
pure alcohol at an astonishing one-eighth mile to the gallon. [Photos
