Jimmy Benally, Jr.

SHIPROCK — Funeral services for Jimmy Paul Benally, Jr., 38, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 19 at the Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Shiprock. Burial will follow at the Shiprock Community Cemetery.

Benally died June 14, 2007 in Hogback, NM. He was born October 29, 1968 in Shiprock into the Towering House Clan for the Bitter Water Clan.

Survivors include his mother, Delores A. Henry; stepfather, Hardie J. Henry; brothers, Lawrence P. Benally and Stanford P.C. Benally; stepbrothers, Danny Henry, Leroy Henry, and Stanley Henry; stepsister, Charlene Henry.

Benally, Jr. was preceded in death by his father, Paul Benally, Sr.; grandparents, Delwashie and Ida C. Benally.


Christine M. Paquin

GALLUP — Funeral services for Christine M. Paquin, 80, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 19 at the West Mesa Assembly of God in Gallup. Rev. Kenneth Davis and Phillip Nez will officiate. Burial will follow at the Gallup City Cemetery.

Paquin died June 14 in Gallup. She was born Sept. 3, 1926 in former Red Rock, Ariz. into the Yucca Fruit Clan for the Mountain Cove Clan.

Paquin graduated from the former Navajo Methodist Mission in Farmington and attended Fort Lewis College in Colo. She began her teaching at Tonalea Day School in Arizona and finished teaching at the Chuska Boarding School. Paquin enjoyed her yellow rose bushes and gathering antiques and collectibles.

Survivors include her sons, Stephen Paul Blatchford of Fort Defiance; sister, Phyllis M. Nahkai of Tohatchi; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Paquin was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Paquin; son, Herbert C. Blatchford, Jr., parents, James Nahkai, Sr. and Allie Bisdebah Nahkai; brother, James Nahkai.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the West Mesa Assembly of God Church at 7th Street and Mesa St.following services.

Cope Memorial is in charge of arrangements.


Richard Frazier

ALBUQUERQUE, NM — Memorial services for Richard Warren Frazier will be in mid July.

Frazier died June 13, 2007. He was born August 23, 1937 near Solon Springs, Mich.

Frazier graduated from Charles City High School in 1995 and continued his education at McPherson College in Kansas. He retired from teaching in New Mexico and Arizona. He coached high school football, wrestling, and basketball and lived in the Village of Paguate on the Laguna Pueblo reservation for many years. Survivors include his children, Robert Gardipe and Melody Carlyle; brothers, Ralph Leonard Frazier, Paul David Frazier, Bernard Hugh Frazier, and Stewart Justice Frazier; sister, Donna Mae James; and six grandchildren.


Edwina Gutierrez

ALBUQUERQUE — Memorial services for Edwina M. Gutierrez, 81, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 19 at the Mt. Calvary Chapel, 1900 Edith NE in Albuquerque. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

A rosary will be recited prior to services.

Gutierrez was a member of the Catholic Church. She was employed by the Fred Harvey Hotel and contributed to the war effort by working at the Santa Fe Railroad. She lived in Gallup for many years.

Survivors include her daughters, Jen Gutierrez, Phyllis Farello, Mela Martinez; sister, Evangeline; brother, Claude Chavez; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Gutierrez was preceded in death by her son, Raymond; daughter, Shirley Ann; brother, Emilio; and sister, Susie.
