Agapito Silva
ALBUQUERQUE Funeral services for Agapito
"Gap"Encintas Silva, 87, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday,
June 21 at St. Therese Catholic Church, 300 Mildred Ave. NW in
Albuquerque. Burial will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today, June 20 at St. Therese
Catholic Church.
Silva died June 17, 2007 in Albuquerque. He was born October 22,
1919 in San Marcial, NM.
Silva graduated from Gallup High School in 1939. He enlisted in
the New Mexico Army National Guard, then the U.S. Army in 1941.
Silva was a Bataan Death March Survivor. He received many honors
and medals including the Bronze Star, (3) Purple Hearts, Philippine
Defense, American Campaign, Asiatic Pacific Campaign, Philippine
Liberation, American Defense, and Honorable Service while a POW.
On November 11, 2004, he was honored to lay a wreath on the Tomb
of the Unknowns at Arlington National Cemetery for Veteren's Day.
He will be known for his sense of humor, singing and dancing,
cooking tacos and chili, and his love for family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Socorro (Vigil) Silva; sons, Fred
Silva, Michael Silva, Agapito Silva, Jr., Maurice Silva, and Jerome
Silva; daughters, Patricia Silva, and Erlinda Silva; 12 grandchildren,
five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be John Silva, Phillip Silva, Thomas Silva, James
Gonzales, Eddie Gurrola, and Emilio Aguayo.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Bataan-Corregidor
Memorial Foundation of New Mexico, PO Box 30966 Albuquerque, NM
87190-0966.
Curtis Hill
SMITH LAKE Services for Curtis V. Hill,
58, will be announced at a later date.
Smith died June 19, 2007 in Gallup. He was born Jan. 14, 1949
in Crownpoint into the Mexican People Clan for the Salt People
Clan.
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Stoney Yates
LOS ALAMOS, N.M. Services for Stoney
Ray Yates, 43, will be announced at a later date.
Yates died June 19 in Los Alamos. He was born Aug. 2, 1963 in
Grants.
Compassion Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
