Johnny Lucero

GALLUP — Funeral Mass for Johnny Lucero, 85,will be at 10 a.m. Monday, June 25 at Sacred Heart Cathedral Church. The Very Reverend Lawrence J. O'Keefe will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.

Visitation was 11 to 4 p.m. Friday, June 22 at Rollie Mortuary. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday, June 24 at Rollie Mortuary.

Lucero died June 18, 2007 in Gallup. He was born Nov. 1, 1921 in San Antonio, NM.

Lucero graduated from high school in Socorro and served in the Armed Service. He retired from the BIA. Lucero was a musician and was a member of Men of Notes. He played Minor League baseball and coached Little League baseball. He enjoyed family gatherings.

Survivors include his wife Edwina Lucero; daughters, Flora Iverson of Albuquerque and Ramona Quintana of Gallup; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

Lucero was preceded in death by his son, John P. Lucero; brother, Lou Lucero; sister, Celia Saavedra.

Pallbearers will be Amy Lucero, Paul Lucero, Stephanie Vargas, Terry Lynn Glass, Leslie Quintana, and Ryan Quintana.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Ramona Quintana's residence, at 401 E. Logan following services.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


Mary Austin

DEMING, NM— Funeral services for Mary I. Austin, 71, will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday, June 25 at Baca Mortuary in Deming.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 24 at Baca Mortuary.

Austin died June 20, 2007 in Deming. She was born April 18, 1936 in Canjilon, NM.

Austin, along with her husband, opened The Plaza Caf in 1984. She also sold Mexican imports and sand-painted clocks at the Flea Market. Austin enjoyed crocheting, growing roses, and spoiling her dog. She was an excellent cook.

Survivors include her husband, Floyd Austin; sons, Carl Austin of Deming, John Austin of Deming, and Floyd Lee Austin of Seneca, Mont.; daughters, Linda Gonzales of Gallup and Lottie Bradford of Gallup; 15 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Austin was preceded in death by her parents, Papalito and Bernadina Montano; son, Fred Lee Austin and one grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Carl Austin, John Austin, David Gonzales, Freddie Gonzales, Jr., Freddie Gonzales, Sr., and Ray Bradford.


Shawn Billie

GALLUP — Services for Shawn Joseph Billie, 26, will be announced at a later date.

Billie died June 25, 2007. He was born November 18, 1980 in Fort Defiance.

His parents are Curtis and Annette Bitsie of Mexican Springs. A family gathering will be at 6 p.m. Monday, June 25 at the Mexican Springs Chapter.

Cope Memorial is in charge of arrangements.


Fred Etsitty

NASCHITTI — Services for Fred Lee Etsitty, 64, will be announced at a later date.

Etsitty died June 21, 2007 in Naschitti. He was born May 21, 1943 in Cove, Ariz.
