GALLUP Venice Beach singer/songwriter Chloe
Day will be performing in Gallup this week as part of a nationwide
tour.
Day will perform at 7 p.m. on Friday at the Coal Street Pub, located
at 303 W. Coal Ave.
For the past several months, Day has been topping the MySpace charts
with her eerie melodies and lyrics full of double entendres. A recording
artist with two full-length CDs to date, 2003's "The Return
Of..." and 2004's "Pixie Runway" (remixed and remastered
for digital distribution in 2006), she is now touring the country
in support of her most recent digital release, the single "Vampire
Song (Thirsty?)"
Originally from St. Louis, Mo., Day got her start in music on a
three-month hitchhike through Mexico, where she picked up her first
guitar at a roadside stand just south of Tijuana. She came back
to the United States to discover a thriving open mic scene in Santa
Monica, Calif. which soon led to gigs around Hollywood. It was at
the hotspot Molly Malone's that Day crossed paths with producer
Meghan Gohil and began work on her debut release, "The Return
Of..."
"Pixie Runway followed less than a year later and led to regional
touring around the states. Day's provocative innuendoes and youthful
voice turned heads at live shows, luring the eyes and ears of fans
and critics alike.
Now, with dozens of U.S. cities and more than a million plays on
MySpace under her belt, Day returns to life on the road with both
a growing musical repertoire and a bigger show. Her summer tour
incorporates video arrangements unique to every song, some of which
can be previewed on her Web site.
In addition to Friday's show at the Coal Street Pub, Day is scheduled
to perform at the Liquid Lounge in Albuquerque at 10 p.m. on Saturday,
June 30; the Blue Dragon in Albuquerque at 7 p.m. on Monday, July
16; and 9 p.m. on Tuesday, July 17 at the Flagstaff Brewing Co.
in Flagstaff, Ariz.
