Gerald Burks

BLUEWATER LAKE — Memorial services for Gerald F. Burks, 55, will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 2 at Thoreau Baptist Church.

Burks died June 27, 2007 in Albuquerque. He was born Oct. 5, 1951 in Aurora, Ill.

Burks moved to Bluewater Lake in 1993. He was employed at McKinley Paper.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Burks of Bluewater Lake; son, Arron Burke of Albuquerque; daughter, Andrea (Andi) Burks of Albuquerque; mother, Cecelia Burks of Aurora, Ill.; brothers, Carl Burks of Aurora, Ill.; sister, Fran Johnson of Phoenix; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Thoreau Baptist Church following services.

Estrella Holguin

GRANTS — Services for Estrella Holguin, 8, will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 1 at Compassion Mortuary. Deacon Timo Lujan will officiate.

Holguin died June 27, 2007 in Grants. She was born April 15, 1999.

Holguin was in the second grade at Mt. Taylor Elementary School in Grants.

Survivors include her parents, Richard Holguin, Sr., and Maria Macias of Grants; brothers, Richard Holguin, Jr. of Grants, Gregory Holguin of El Paso, Texas, Raymond Holguin of El Paso, Texas, and Paul Jonathan Garcia of El Paso, Texas; sister, Beth Holguin of Grants; grandparents, Roberto Holguin, Socorro Holguin, Guadalupe Macias and Aurora Macias, all of El Paso, Texas.

Compassion Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Ervin Begay, Jr.

CROWNPOINT — Funeral services for Ervin James Begay, Jr., 8, will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 2 at the Lighthouse Assembly of God in Crownpoint. Pastor Carlos Baki will officiate. Burial will follow at Nahodishgish family land plot.

Begay, Jr., died June 27, 2007 in Albuquerque. He was born Jan. 20, 1999 in Fort Defiance into the Bitterwater Clan for the Edge Water Clan.

Begay, Jr. finished second grade at Crownpoint Elementary School. He enjoyed watching cartoons, reading books, and playing video games. He always had a smile on his face.

Survivors include his parents, Ervin Begay, Sr. and Marcia Begay of Crownpoint; brothers, Errick Begay and Erwin Begay both of Crownpoint; sister, Natasha Peterson of Crownpoint; grandparents, Calvin Begay, Sr. and Bessie Begay of Cottonwood, Ariz.

Begay, Jr. was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ned McCray, Sr. and Lois McCray.

Pallbearers will be Vernon R. Tso, Keevin Begay, Sr., Ned McCray, Jr., and Calvin Begay, Sr.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Nahodishgish Chapter House following services.

Cope Memorial is in charge of arrangements.

Anthony Dawes

MEXICAN SPRINGS — Funeral services for Anthony Henry Dawes, 34, will be at 10 a.m. July 2 at Christian Reformed Church in Tohatchi. Burial will follow at Lone Pine Cemetery.

Dawes died June 26, 2007 in Mexican Springs. He was born Feb. 2, 1973 in Gallup into the Ute Clan for the Red Running into the Water Clan.

Dawes attended Tohatchi Elementary and Tohatchi High School. He was self-employed. Dawes enjoyed training horses, tending livestock, hunting, bull riding, being outdoors and with family and friends.

Survivors include his parents, Andrew Dawes, Sr. and Minnie Dawes of Mexican Springs; brothers, Arnold Holyan of Crystal, Ambrose Morris of Lupton, Alvin Morris of Navajo, NM, Jerome Holyan of Searcy, Ark., Andrew Dawes, Jr., of Mexican Springs, and Alfonso Dawes of Grants; sisters, Margaret Chavez of Rock Springs, Evangeline Holyan of Mexican Springs, and Darlene Hall of Kenai, Alaska; grandfather, Neal S. Tsosie of Naschitti.

Dawes was preceded in death by Yanabah Bitsie, Willie Dawes, and Alice Notah.

Pallbearers will be family members.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Mexican Springs Chapter House.

John Luna

GALLUP — Private family services for John Manuel Luna, 53, will be at a later date.

Luna died June 28, 2007 in Gallup. He was born Oct. 13, 1953 in Gallup.

Luna owned Luna's Taxi for 14 years. He enjoyed fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Becky Luna of Gallup; son, John Michael Luna of Gallup; Bernadette Zepeda of Gallup; parents, Mary Luna of Tucson; brothers, David Luna of Phoenix and James Luna of Tucson; sisters, Patsy Palomino of Tucson and Evelyn Jimenez of Tucson; and three grandchildren.

Luna was preceded in death by his father, Pat Luna; brothers, Richard Luna and Joey Luna.

The family will receive relatives and friends at 6 p.m. Saturday, June 30 at 307 E. Jefferson for a reception and prayer.

Debra Jaramillo

CUBERO, NM — Services for Debra Jaramillo, 52, will be announced at a later date.

Jaramillo died June 29, 2007 in Cubero. She was born June 29, 1955 in Cubero.

GALLUP — Services for Delfina H. Martin, 89, will be announced at a later date.

Martin died June 27, 2007 in Gallup. She was born Sept. 25. 1917 in Eagle Pass, Texas.
