Robert Welch

GALLUP — Services for Robert J. Welch, 89, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 13, at Sacred Heart Cathedral. Father Lawrence O'Keefe will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Gallup.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Rollie Mortuary. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Monday, March 12 at Rollie Mortuary.

Welch died March 7 in Gallup. He was born Sept. 29, 1917 in Farmington.

Welch graduated from Gallup High School. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service and served in U.S. Army. He was a Bataan Death March survivor and prisoner of war for 3 1/2 years. He was a member of the Elks Lodge, disabled Amercian Veteran and Veteran's Foreign Wars. He enjoyed fishing, walking and visiting with friends.

Survivors include daughters, Roberta Chandler and Christina Davenport; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Welch was preceded in death by parents, James and Myrtle Welch; brother, James Welch and sisters, Mildred Myers and Georgia Branton.

Pallbearers will be Ronald Welch, Greg Plese, Joel Sanchez, Wyatt Hoy, Chris Plunkett and Anthony Plese.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Sacred Heart Cathedral family center after burial.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to McKinley County Humane Society.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


Jose Olguin

GRANTS, N.M. — Funeral services for Jose Olguin, 66, are pending.

Olguin died Sunday, March 11, in Grants. He was born on September 13, 1940 in Milagro, N.M.

Compassion Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
