Luis Chavez
GRANTS Services for Luis Jose Chavez,
75, will be at 2 p.m. today, March 15, at St. Vivian Catholic
Church in Milan, N.M. Father Alberto Avella will be the celebrant.
Burial will follow at Grants Memorial Park. Military honors will
be privided by the VFM Lodge 3221.
Chavez died March 12 in Grants. He was born June 27, 1931 in Juan
Thomas, N.M.
Chavez was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean
Conflict.
Survivors include his wife, Corinne Chavez of Grants; children,
Anthony Chavez of San Rafael, Arthur Chavez of Albuquerque, Danny
Chavez of Grants, Charles Chavez of Rio Rancho; brothers, Augustine
Martinez of Bernalillo and Demetrio Martinez of Estancia; sister,
Susie Gallegos of Albuquerque; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Chavez was preceded in death by his parents, Geraldo and Isabel
Chavez; his brother, Jose Gracia and his sister, Berna Herrera.
Compassion Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Jose Olguin
GRANTS Services for Jose Olguin, 66,
was at 9:30 a.m. today, March 15, at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic
Church in Grants. Father Alberto Avella will be the celebrant.
Burial will follow at the Grants Memorial Park.
Olguin died March 11 in Grants. He was born Sept. 13, 1940 in
Milagro, N.M.
Olguin was a U.S. Air Force veteran and served during the Vietnam
War.
Survivors include wife, Merlinda Olguin of Grants; children, Lennett
Adams and Stephen Olguin, both of Albuquerque, Joe Olguin of Grants
and Anthony Olguin of Florida; parents, Jesus and Mary Olguin
of Albuquerque; brothers, Flory Olguin, Filimon Olguin, Ernest
Olguin, Jesus Olguin Jr., Michael Olguin, all of Albuquerque,
Phillip Olguin of Grants, Frank Olguin of Denver, Colo.; sisters,
Becky Saiz, Veronica Olguin and Marylou Olguin, all of Albuquerque;
eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and many nieces
and nephews.
Olguin was preceded in death by his sister, Reyes Vigil.
Compassion Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Ismeal Gonzales
GALLUP A traditional wake for Ismeal
"Smiley" J. Gonzales, 63, was 10 a.m. today, Thursday,
March 15, at St. Francis Catholic Church. Rev. Eduardo Espinosa,
OFM, officiated. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. A rosary
was recited at St. Francis Catholic Church.
Gonzales died Sunday, March 11, in Gallup. He was born July 31,
1943 in Cuba, N.M.
Gonzales was a 1st Sgt. in the Army National Guard. He worked
at Fort Wingate Army Depot, RMCH, Giant Refinery and Amigo's.
He enjoyed doing carpentry work around his home. He was a people
person.
Survivors include his wife, Flora Gonzales; daughters, Gina Gonzales
and Alexcia Chavez; brother, Medardo Gonzales; sister, Estella
Crespin; five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Gonzales was preceded in death by his father, Elizardo Gonzales;
mother, Emelia Gonzales; sister, Carmelita Alonzo.
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Russell Allen
NAVAJO Graveside services for Russell
Paul Allen, 52, will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 16, at the Community
Cemetery in Lukachukai, Ariz.
Allen died Thursday, March 8, in Gallup. He was born Feb. 17,
1955 in Fort Defiance into the Red Bottom People Clan for the
Near to Water People Clan.
Allen attended school in Inter Mountain School inUtah. He enjoyed
helping people and was a member of the Native Amercian Church.
He was employed as a mechanic.
Survivors include brothers, Joseph Allen of Farmington and Rickey
Allen of Fruitland; sister, Gloria Allen of Farmington.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmy Allen and Mary
N. Allen.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the residence
of Sarah and Nelson Billie, 117 Popular Avenue. The family met
Wednesday, March 14, at 6 p.m. in Navajo.
Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Betsy E. King
THOREAU Services are pending for Betsy
E. King, 74, of Iyanbito.
King was born Aug. 12, 1932 in Thoreau. She died Tuesday, March
13, in Thoreau.
Correction
Amanda Davis' great grandmother, Adelina Padilla, should have been
listed as a survivor.
