Betsy King
IYANBITO Services for Betsy Endito King,
, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 17 at Rollie Mortuary in Gallup.
Boyd Silversmith will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset
Memorial in Gallup.
King died March 13 in Thoreau. She was born Aug. 12, 1932 in Mt.
Powell, N.M. into the Sagebrush Hill People Clan for the Towering
House People Clan.
King went to BIA Crownpoint Boarding School. She was a food service
worker at BIA Wingate Elementary School, McKinley County Schools,
Indian Hills School, Thoreau High School, Rehoboth Hospital, Kachina
Meat Packaging Co. and BIA Manuelito Dormitory Hall.
Survivors include sons, John I. King of Albuquerque, Alvin King
and Irwin King, Jr. of Iyanbito; daughters, Carline Murphy of
Fort Wingate, Linda K. Begaye of Breadsprings, Beverly Arviso
of Iyanbito and Jeannie King of Phoenix; brother, Homer Endito
of Thoreau and sister, Bixie Endito of Thoreau; 27 grandchildren
and 23 great-grandchildren.
King was preceded in death by her husband, Irwin J. King, Sr.;
mother, Flora Nelson Endito, father, Arthur Endito; her brothers,
Raymond Endito, Eddie Endito, Sr. and Andy Endito; her sister,
Elizabeth Sandoval.
Pallbearers will be Rory Begaye, Donovan King, Clinton King, Andre
King, Marvin Murphy and Mike Murphy.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Thoreau residence,
House 113, County Rd. 51 after services.
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Lillian Haswood
CROWNPOINT Services for Lillian C. Haswood,
64, will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 17 at The Church Of Jesus
Christ Of Latter-Day Saints. Bishop Mike Jones will officiate.
Burial will follow at the Gallup City Cemetery.
Haswood died March 14 in Gallup. She was born Sept. 5, 1942 in
Borrego Pass, N.M.
Haswood attended Intermountain Indian School in Brigham City,
Utah and was employed at Winslow Indian Hospital, GIMC, U&O
Service Unit in Fort Duchesne, Utah and she retired from the Indian
Health Service in 1998.
Survivors include her son Emmanuel Hasswood II, of Vanderwagen;
daughter Michelle Haswood of Crownpoint; brothers Toney Largo
of Tuba City, Tim Larson and Lawrence Larson, both of Crownpoint;
sisters Bettie Ann Largo Begay of Fort Defiance, Rita Doneghey
of Crownpoint, Judie Arviso of Window Rock, and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Emmanuel Haswood.
Pallbearers will be Emmanuel Haswood II, Edward Haswood, Kenny
Donaghey and Gerald Vandever.
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Teddie Silversmith Sr.
TOHATCHI Services for Teddie Silversmith
Sr., 66, will be at 10 a.m., Monday, March 19 at Rollie Mortuary
Palm Chapel in Gallup. Pastor Jerry Eastridge will officiate.
Burial will be at Sunset Memorial. Visitation will be at Rollie
Palm Chapel, Saturday, March 17 from 1-3 p.m.
Silversmith died March 13 in Gallup. He was born Sept. 3, 1940
in Fort Defiance into the One Who Walks Around People Clan for
the Towering House People Clan.
Silversmith graduated from the Intermountain Indian High School
in Brigham City, Utah. He worked for PHS Field Health in Gallup,
Missouri Pacific, Union Pacific and MOPAC and worked at Atkinson
Trading Company as a silversmith.
Survivors include his wife Lorraine Silversmith of Tohatchi; sons
Ted Silversmith Jr. of Gamerco, Vernon Silversmith, Travis J.
Silversmith, both of Gallup, Brian Silversmith of Church Rock;
daughter Treva Mulligan of White Lake, Mich.; mother Mary Matt
of Houck, Ariz. 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his father Jimmy Silversmith.
Pallbearers will be Ted Silversmith Jr., Vernon Silversmith, Brian
Silversmith, Travis J. Silversmith, Michael J. Mulligan II and
Carlisle House.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Gallup Community
Service Center in Gallup after services.
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Melvin Bia
SAWMILLE, Ariz. Services for Melvin Lee
Bia, 69, were at 10 a.m., today, March 16 at the Sawmill Full
Gospel Church. Tom Sandoval officiated. Burial will follow at
the Veterans Cemetery in Fort Defiance.
Bia died March 10 in Sawmill. He was born June 17, 1937 in Chinle.
Survivors include his daughters Delphine Bia, Maavis Lee Bia;
stepdaughters Cornelia Carrol, Carolyn Arms, Norma Carroll, Candelaria
Brown; brothers Alvin Tachine, Stanley Mike, Curtis t. Wilson;
sister Fannie Voe, Rosita Tachine, Madeline Davis, 28 grandchildren
and seven great-grandchildren,
He was preceded in death by Rex Tachine and Mae Holtsoi.
Pallbearers will be Kyle Yazzie, Branden Bia, Cordell Carroll,
Conrad Nakai, Kevin Williams, Sean Yazzie and Casey Brown.
Silver Creek Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
