Tom Hovel

COYOTE CANYON — Services for Tom Hovel, 81, will be at 11 a.m., Monday, March 26 at Rollie Mortuary Chapel in Gallup. Father Joe will officiate. Burial will follow in the city cemetery in Gallup.

Hovel died March 21 in Gallup. He was born March 11, 1926 in Rehoboth into the Bitter Water People Clan for the Zuni People Clan.

Hovel worked for the BIA, NECA, the Navajo tribe, Gallup-McKinley Schools and at several construction jobs. His hobbies included being with his children and grandchildren, spending time at his ranch with his cattle, watching wrestling and rodeos.

Survivors include his wife Thelma Arviso Hovel of Coyote Canyon; sons Albert Hovel, Leonard Hovel, Phillip Hovel, Walter Hovel, all of Coyote Canyon; daughters Viola Hovel, Ethel Hovel, Velma Lee, all of Coyote Canyon; brother David Hood of Church Rock; sisters, Alice Benally, Rose Joe, Priscilla A. Hood, all of Hard Ground, N.M.; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Tom Hood, Mary B. Hood; brothers Robert Hood, Billy Hood; sisters Angeline Hood.

Pallbearers will be Shawn Francis, Alvison Lee, Avison Lee, Robert Lee, Jonathan Lee, and Tommy Hovel.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Church Rock Chapter House after services.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangments.


Charles Manning

RED ROCK, N.M. — Services for Charles Robert Manning, 73, will be at 10 a.m., Monday, March 26 at Red Rock Church of God. Sister Terri Goodin will officiate. Burial will follow in Mexican Springs, N.M.

Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m., Sunday, March 25, at Rollie Mortuary.

Manning died March 20 in Albuquerque. He was born Jan. 29, 1934 in Rehoboth into the Salt Water People Clan for the Towering House People Clan. Charles attended Wingate Boarding School, worked on the railroad in Montana, Chicago and other places in Illinois. He worked for Navajo Motors and Rico Motors. He enjoyed fishing, spending time with his grandchildren, working puzzles and playing find-a-word and watching western movies.

Survivors include his wife Catherine Manning of Mexican Springs; daughters Delores M. Cunejo of Albuquerque, Wilma Begay of Holland, Mich., Bernadette Edney of West Olive, Mich., Francine Thomas of Farmington; brothers Robert C. Manning of Red Rock, Chester Manning of Gallup, sister Bessie L. Manning of Red Rock; 17 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Lula Manning, George Manning; son Ronald Manning; daughter Mary Lou Manning; brothers Wilbert Manning, Arthur Manning, Nelson Manning and Allen Tom.

Pallbearers will be Rondo Begay, Jonathan Begay, Ryan Manning, Drwyn Talley, Adrian Manning and Thaddeus Cunejo.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Red Rock Chapter House.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


Tina Zellner

ALBUQUERQUE — Services for Tina Michelle Zellner, 45, were Tuesday, March 20, at French Mortuary Chapel, in Albuquerque.

Michelle died Friday, March 16, 2007. Her childhood was spent in Loveland Park, Ohio; her adult years were spent in Grants, Roswell and Albuquerque, New Mexico.

She was a cosmetologist for 11 years in Roswell, and was employed at Isleta Casino. She enjoyed reading, riding the bike, her animals, dancing and singing karaoke

Survivors include her daughters Shaundra Biehle of Roswell, and Summer Biehle of Albuquerque; her parents Jim and Karen Stansbery of Bluewater; siblings Loretta Moore (Mark) of Middletown, Ohio, Jim Stansbery, Jr. (Gaylene) of Midland, Texas, Leah Allen (Charlie) of Thoreau, , Joe Stansbery (Wendie) of Boise, Idaho; grandmother Millie Gooderham of Hillsboro, Ohio.


Mildred Joines

FARMINGTON — MildredJoy Joines, 64, died on March 22, in Farmington. She was born June 12, 1942 in Colorado Spring, Colo.

Millie is survived by her children Debbie Ray of Flora Vista, Butch Bunch of Gallup, and Julie Salas of Farmington; stepchildren Dutchie Nelson of Del Rio, Texas, and Bill Joines of Gallup; sisters Joy Miller of Buloxi, Miss., Bobbie Bargers of Colorado Springs, Colo., Faye Cordova of Aztec and Peggie Evans of San Antonio, Texas;seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren;

She was preceded in death by her parents Gilbert and Alice (Uhls) Howse; husband Eddie Joines and brother Mike Howse.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers donations can be made to Knights Templar Eye Foundation, 1000 E. State Parkway, Suite I, Schaumburg, Ill. 60173.

Cope Memorial Chapel, of Farmington is in charge of arrangements.


Addie Rich

GRANTS — Services for Addie I. Rich, 91, will be at 11 a.m., Monday, March 26 at the Central Baptist Church in Grants. Pastor Lonnie Jordan will officiate.

Burial will follow at the Pioneer Memorial Cemetery in Bluewater.

Rich died March 21 in Grants. She was born May 19, 1915 in Nye, Ark. She was well-known in the area as the Stanley distributor.

Survivors include her children Mary Dean Hill of Tucson, C.L. Bennet of Meadview Ariz., Joe O. Bennett of Carrolton, Texas; 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands John L. Bennett and John Rich and her parents James W. Newsom and Alice Dean Newson.

Compassion Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


Elinor Arviso

CROWNPOINT — Services for Elinor M. Arviso, 92, will be announced at a later date.

Arviso died March 23 in Gallup. She was born January 15, 1915 in Dalton Pass.

There will be a famly meeting today, March 24, at 6 p.m., at the Crownpoint Chapter House.
