Unser donation: Shay Silversmith, right, and Bryan Shelendewa in the UNM Gallup Electrical Systems and Brake Automotive class, adjust the new dynamometer at the UNM Gallup auto shop on Friday morning. Three-time Indianapolis 500 winner and racing legend Bobby Unser recently donated about $52,000 worth of automotive equipment to the UNM Gallup Auto Shop including the dyno. Unser was scheduled to make an appearance at UNM Gallup on Friday but he was hospitalized due to an infection that was not healing. Unser will visit UNM Gallup in the near future when his health improves. [Photo by Matt Hinshaw/Independent]

Pet of the week: The Gallup McKinley County Humane Society would like to thank all who helped make the Spring-Fling a great success. The $10,000 winners were Annie & Lucy Mazon, and the winning ticket was sold by Julie Luerras. Dick White won $500, and $250 went to Jim Glasson. There are plenty of dogs and cats up for adoption.
