Melissa Archie

FT. DEFIANCE — Funeral services for Melissa Ann Archie will be at 10 a.m. Monday, May 7, at the Community Bible Church in Tse Bonito. Rev. David Hilderman will officiate. Burial will be in the Community Cemetery in Ft. Defiance.

Archie died May 2, in St. Michaels. She was born February 16, 1968 in Farmington into the Bitter Water Clan for the Red House Clan.

Archie attended Window Rock High School. She worked for Duocomm Technologies in Ft. Defiance, Cardinal Health Wireless in Albuquerque, and Motorola in Phoenix. Archie's hobbies include bead work, listening to music, puzzle making, and traveling.

Survivors include her sons, Leland Archie and Marklen Keeto both of Ft. Defiance; daughters, Ashleigh Keeto of Fort Defiance; mother, Laverne Archie of Fort Defiance; brothers, Laverle Archie of Salt Lake City, Steven Archie of Albuquerque, Lavon Archie of Ft. Defiance; sisters, Laverta Archie, Roberta Etsitty, Shannon Slinkey all of Ft. Defiance.

Archie is preceded in death by her husband, Martin Keeto; father, William L. Archie; daughter, Alanna N. Archie; grandparents, Louise D. Manuelito, June Leonard, Archie Begay, Steve Barney.

Pallbearers will be Laverle Archie, Steven Archie, Lavon Archie, Vernon Archie, Aaron Archie, Jon Archie, Ronald Slinkey, and Steven Sanderson.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Fort Defiance Chapter House following services.

Silver Creek Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


Leroy Mansfield

BOSTON — Private services for Leroy Mansfield will be held in Missouri with his family.

Mansfield died May 1 in Missouri. He was born August 6, 1942 in Gallup.

Mansfield graduated from Gallup High School in 1961. He attended Western College of Engineering in Inglewood, Calif., and he was in the US Navy.

Survivors include his son, Leroy Mansfield of Houston, Texas; daughter, Natalie Thrasher from Ashgrove, Missouri; first wife Cipriana Maestas; brothers, Clarence Mansfield and Francis Mansfield both of Gallup; sister, Eleanor Ramirez; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia Kawa.


Bill Finegan

GALLUP — Services for William "Bill" Finegan, 51, will be at noon, Monday, May 7 at Pioneer Memorial Park in Bluewater Village.

Finegan died May 2 in Gallup. He was born Nov. 15, 1955 in Twin Falls, Idaho.

Finegan was an avid hunter and fisherman and held a black belt in Tae Kwon-do.

Survivors include his sons, Jason Finegan of Maui, Hawaii, Matthew "Matt" Finegan of Albuquerque; father, James Raymond Finegan of Albuquerque; brothers, James Russell Finegan of Summerfield, Fla., Paul Patrick Finegan of Springerville, Ariz., Tommy Finegan of Gallup, John Finegan of Alabama, Mark Finegan of Riverside, Calif.; sisters, Jamelyn Youtsey of Bloomfield, N.M., Shalene Brandt of Bluewater Village, Liana Madrid of Gallup and Anna Finegan-Regel of Riverside, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia Finegan; children, Jared William Finegan, Wendy Finegan; mother, Pauline Finegan; brothers, Tim Finegan and Thomas Jerome Finegan.

Compassion Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


Willie Smith Jr.

LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Funeral services for Willie "Junior Mark" Smith, Jr., 54, will be at 10 a.m. today, May 5 at the Bible Navajo Mission in Blackhat. Pastor Jimmy Bowling will officiate. Burial will follow at Ft. Defiance Veterans Cemetery.

Visitation will be today prior to services.

Smith, Jr. died April 25. He was born July 1, 1952 in Ganado into the Towering House Clan for the Black Streak Forest Clan.

Smith, Jr. graduated from Window Rock High School. He served in the US Marines from 1975 to 1979. Smith, Jr. received the National Defence Service Medal and the Rifle Marksman Badge. At the time of his death he was an electrician for Security Unlimited. His enjoyed collecting model planes.

Survivors include his wife, Susie Willie of Las Vegas; daughters, Marcella Smith of Las Vegas; brother, Wilson Smith of Show Low, Ariz.; sisters, Ella Mae Thomas of Ft. Defiance and Helena Hubbard of Phoenix.

Smith, Jr. was preceded in death by his parents Willie Smith Sr. and Mildred Begoty.

Pallbearers will be military personal.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Bible Navajo Mission/Academy Gym following services.

Tse Bonito Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


Elizabeth Bahe

PURITY ROCK — Funeral services for Elizabeth Bahe, 71, will be at 11 a.m. Monday, May 7 at Cope Memorial Chapel. Pastor Bobby Boyd will officiate. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Bahe died May 1 in Gallup. She was born September 6, 1935 in Purity Rock into Towering House Clan for the Mexican Clan.

Bahe retired from the Yosemite National Park Service.

Pallbearers will be Gilbert Joe, Myron Spencer, Ferrell Becenti, Daniel Spencer, Jeremy Spencer, and Jerry Bahe.

A potluck reception will be at Tse Yoh Toh Chapter House following services.

Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
