Man still missing, 1 year later
Farmington cop isn't giving up

GALLUP Phil Mondragon has not given up on finding Freddie
Jordan.
Mondragon, a detective-sergeant in the Farmington Police Department,
has been involved with finding Jordan, who went missing on May 6,
2006, for the past year.
Jordan, 45, a resident of Shiprock, has been missing since May 7,
2006. He was last seen wearing a black baseball hat, brown T-shirt
and black jeans near the intersection of Apache and Main Streets
in Farmington. There have been no clues of his whereabouts since
than, and Mitchell said that a renewed effort is underway because
of the year anniversary of his disappearance. Part of that effort
includes seeking help from people in the Gallup area, since Jordan
was known to travel down to Gallup frequently.
Jordan was described as a Native American male, about 5'9",
170 pounds, black hair, and walks with a limp on his left leg. He
has the tattoo of an eagle on his right forearm and a waterbird
tattoo on his chest.
Although he lived only about 30 miles from Farmington, Jordan usually
went to Gallup, said Mondragon, where he would spend the weekend
drinking and living on the streets.
"His family said they were times he would go missing, but after
a few days he would call family members," Mondragon said.
After Jordan's disappearance, Mondragon said the Farmington Police
Department sent out bulletins to area law enforcement agencies giving
Jordan's description and asking if any unclaimed bodies matched.
None did.
"We have no reason to suspect foul play," he said, although
in cases where a person may have died of natural causes, such as
exposure, a body usually turns up within a short period of time.
Persons with any information are asked to contact Mondragon at (505)
599-1020 or Vince Mitchell, another Farmington detective, at (505)
599-1075. Persons can also call Crime Stoppers at (505) 334-8477
and remain anonymous and receive up to a $1,000 reward.
