Mary Benally

CRYSTAL, NM — Graveside services for Mary Jane Benally, 75, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 19 at a family plot in Crystal.

Benally died May 15 in Albuquerque. She was born May 2, 1932 in Crystal into the Edge Water People Clan for the Mud People Clan.

Survivors include her sons, Delbert Benally of San Domingo and Elbert Benally of Albuquerque; daughters, Shirley Benally and Marilyn Curley both of Crystal; brothers, Richard Curley of Fort Defiance, David Curley and Hubert Curley both of Farmington; sisters, Alice Curley, Rose Curley, Esther Price all of Crystal and Ruth Billy of Tucson; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Elbert Benally, Vaughn Benally, Herbert Brown, Kenelm Shirley, Kendrick Curley, Brian Billie, and Mark Etcitty, Jr.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Curley residence.

Tse Bonito is in charge of arrangements.


Berlinda Yazzie

ALBUQUERQUE — Funeral services for Berlinda Ann Yazzie, 25, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 19 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Ganado. Elder Richards will officiate. Burial will follow at the Community Cemetery in Cornfields.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services.

Yazzie died May 12 in Albuquerque. She was born April 14, 1982 in Fort Defiance into the Black Streaked Forest People Clan for the Towering House People Clan.

Yazzie attended pre-school in Navajo, N.M., elementary schools in Gallup, and Albuquerque High School. She held various jobs around Albuquerque, most recently as retail merchandise clerk. Her hobbies included listening to music and attending church.

Survivors include her sons, Joefothan Yazzie, Josiah Yazzie, and Anthony Montoya all of Albuquerque; daughters, Shantee Montoya of Albuquerque; parents, Melvin and Berline Clark of Albuquerque; brothers, Marvin Clark and Terrance Clark, both of Albuquerque; sisters, Michelle Clark of Albuquerque; grandparents David and Irene Ann Peshlakai of Sheep Springs.

Pallbearers will be Alonzo Yazzie, Terance Clark, Bruce Begay, Blane Clark, Melvin Clark, and Franklin Tso, Jr.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Cornfields Chapter House.

Silver Creek Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
