Linda Begaye

BREADSPRINGS — Funeral services for Linda K. Begaye, 49, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 26 at Rollie Mortuary. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.

Begaye was born February 25, 1958 into the Sagebrush Hill Clan for the Bitter Water Clan.

Begaye attended Iyanbito Headstart, Ft. Wingate Elem., Church Rock Elem., LDS placement program, Gallup High School-class of 1976, and UNM with a Bachelors degree in Social Services. She was employed with the Navajo Nation Social Services and Dept. of Transportation, National Indian Youth Council, and BIA, Dept. of Interior Human Resources. Begaye's hobbies included princess house consulting, ranching, crocheting, sewing, playing the clarinet and piano, walking, reading, and being with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Raymond L. Begaye of Breadsprings; sons, Rory A. Begaye and Alec R. Begaye both of Breadsprings; daughters, Kimberly K. Begaye and Casey L. Begaye both of Breadsprings; brothers, John King of Albuquerque, Irwin King, Jr. of Iyanbito, and Alvin King of Iyanbito; sisters, Jeannie King of Ft. Wingate, Beverly Arviso of Iyanbito, and Carline Murphy of Ft. Wingate; grandparents, Arthur and Flora Endito and George and Marie King; two grandchildren.

Begaye was preceded in death by her parents, Irwin King, Sr. and Betsy King.

Pallbearers will be Andre King, Mike Murphy, Marvin Murphy, Sylvester Williams, Merle Dixon, and Wilbur Murphy, Jr.

Rollie Morturary is in charge of arrangements.


Rose Taddy-Chavez

GRANTS — Funeral services for Rose B. Taddy-Chavez, 83, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 26 at the St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church. Father Matthew Keller will officiate. Burial will follow at the Grants Memorial Park.

Taddy-Chavez died May 23 in Grants. She was born January 2. 1924 in Magdalena.

Taddy-Chavez was a member of the St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church and was a 3rd order of St. Francis. She was a resident of Grants since the 1950's.

Survivors include her daughters, Theresa Padilla of Grants, Shirley Savedra of Albuquerque, Margaret Davalos of Denver, Lillian Cochran of Albuquerque, Lorraine Taddy of Albuquerque, Linda Sanchez of El Paso, Texas, and Georgia Dimas of Albuquerque; sons, Richard A. Taddy of Los Lunas, Silvio G. Taddy of Albuquerque, Jimmy Chavez of Albuquerque, and Joe Chavez of Morarity; sisters, Sarah Griggs of La Vegas, Nev., Rosella Smith of Magdalena, Mary Sanchez of Albuquerque, and Della Peralta of Los Lunas; brothers, Joe G. Baca of Los Lunas and Pete Baca of Albuquerque; 33 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

Taddy-Chavez was preceded in death by her two husbands, Silvio Taddy and Nick Chavez; parents, Tranqulino and Elauteria Baca; brother, Henry Baca; sister, Carmen Jacobs; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Robert Padilla, Eric Saavedra, Paul Cochran, Aaron Davalos, Kevin Taddy, Ricardo Taddy, and Patrick Benavidez.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to hospice.

Compassion Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


Mary Tsosie

TSELANI — Funeral services for Mary Alice Tsosie, 86, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 26 at the Black Mountain Mission in Black Mountain, Ariz. Daniel Smiley will officiate. Burial will follow at a family plot in Black Mountain.

Tsosie died May 20 in Chinle, Ariz. She was born December 24, 1920 in Cottonwood, Ariz.

Tsosie was a homemaker. She volunteered for over 20 years as a Foster Grandparent with the Cottonwood Headstart. Tsosie was active with the Black Mountain Mennonite Church. She was well known to celebrities in New Mexico and around the world.

Survivors include her sons, Leonard Lee Tsosie of Cottonwood and Glen Dee Tsosie of Steamboat; daughters, Elaine Woods of Cottonwood, Lorraine Tso of Cortez, Colo., and Helen Johnson of Cottonwood; 26 grandchildren; 66 great grandchildren; and 22 great-great grandchildren.

Tsosie was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Lee Tsosie; parents, Jim Mitchell and Zonnie Brown; daughters, Lita Laura Hubbell and Ramona Tsosie; sisters, Adele Mitchell and Dolly Chee Begay; brothers, John Dale and Alfred Mitchell.

Pallbearers will be Wallace Nez, Jr., Marlon Bainbridge, Steven Allen, Jr., Raphael Bainbridge, Leland Johnson, and Shawn Tsosie.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Waterless Mountain Fellowship Church in Cottonwood.

Silver Creek Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


Gordon Simshauser

NAVAJO, Ariz. — Memorial services for Gordon Keith Simshauser, 75, will be at 11 a.m. August 18 at McCarrell Rd. Cemetery.

Simshauser died May 16 in Navajo. He was born July 6, 1931 in Amherst, Neb.

Simshauser was a retired farmer and rancher. He loved fishing, gardening, farming, caring and helping others.

Survivors include his wife Iola; sons, Kent of Navajo, Kerry of Lynden, Wash., and Kregg of Everson, Wash.; daughters, Joy Plagerman of Everson, Wash., Roxanne Lenssen of Lynden, Wash., and Kandy Bromley of Sumas, Wash.; brother, Freddie Adlung of Amherst, Neb.; sisters, Jane Hunt of Amherst, Neb., Phyllis Nelson of Amherst, NE, and Edith Schriner of Kearney, Neb.; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.

Simshauser was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Tracy Simshauser; brother, Calvin Simshauser; sister, Audrey Condon and Vivian Juhl; and one great grandson.


Helen Schaalman

Manuelito — Mass Service for Helen Schaalman, 96, was May 24 at St. John Evangelist Church in Houck. Father Cormac, OFM, officiated. Burial followed on private family land in Manuelito, NM.

Helen died May 19 in Prescott. She was born February 15, 1911 in Bridgeport, Conn.

Schaalman worked as a secretary for a school and a law office. She was a homemaker, and was artistic, skilled in sewing, crafts, and painting. She loved animals, flowers, and birds.

Survivors include her son, Richard J. Schaalman of Prescott Valley; sister, Francis Gasperick of Fairfield, Conn.; 11 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Schaalman was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Lyons Schaalman; son, James Ernest Schaalman; daughters, Mary Ellen Cardinel and Ann Marie Schaalman.


Ellinora Beck

GRANTS — Memorial services for Ellinora "Ellie" Beck, 77, will be at 10 a.m. June 2 at All Saints Episcopal Church on San Mateo Rd., north of Milan.

Beck died May 12.

Survivors include her husband, Theodore; daughters, Pam of Grants and Martha Henley of Louisiana; son, Max Beck of Albuquerque; three grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

Beck was preceded in death by her so Earl Beck; and two grandchildren.

A gathering at La Ventana/Iron Blossom, 110 Geis will follow services.
