Derrick Roy

BREADSPRINGS — Services for Derrick James Roy, 25, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6 at Cope Memorial Chapel, Gallup. Pastor Jake Yazzie Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in Gallup City Cemetery. Visitation will follow the service.

Roy died Nov. 2, 2007 in Breadsprings. He was born March 18, 1982 in Gallup into the Towering House People Clan for the Red Running into the Water People Clan.

Roy graduated from Gallup High School in 2002. He loved playing softball, loved “Bodacious,” watching UFC and movies and taking care of his grandma. He loved to be with his family, and he enjoyed weightlifting.

Survivors include mother, Elsie Roy of Breadsprings; brother, Bryan Roy of Albuquerque; sister, Rhonda John of Mentmore; grandmother, Ella Longhair of Breadsprings.

Roy was preceded in death by father, Kee James Roy; brother, Nathaniel James Roy; grandfather, George Longhair; grandmother, Mary J. Smth.

Pallbearers will be Quentin Longhair, Jay Longhair, Sybhan Longhair, Eugene Longhair, Curtis Long, Richard Leupp, Bryan Roy, Lorinda Grey.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Ella Longhair’s residence in Breadsprings following the services.

Cope Memorial is in charge of arrangements.


Jimmie Noel

DURANGO — Memorial services for Jimmie Charles Noel “Clicker”, 37, will be 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5 at Hood Mortuary Chapel, Durango.

Noel died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007. He was born Oct. 24, 1970 in Gallup.

He grew up in Meteor Crater, Ariz. and opened his first store at the age of 19 in Carefree, Ariz. Noel moved the store to Silverton, Colo. in 1992 and opened the Durango Trading Post at 777 Main Ave. in 1997. He later opened the Indian Plaza in Silverton in 2000. He was a 6th generation Ortega Family Indian Arts and Crafts Dealer. When he was younger, he enjoyed riding motorcycles and fighting with his sister. While in high school, he excelled at basketball. He was a master carpenter and designer and enjoyed fishing, golfing, and spending time at the lake. He always said, “If you’re going to be a bear, be a grizzly bear.”

Survivors include wife, Molly Noel of Durango; sons, J.C. Noel, Michael Noel both of Durango; mother, Debra of Silverton; stepfather Eric Foster of Silverton; brother, Daniel Noel of Silverton; sister, Nicole Noel of Durango; grandmother, Mildred Ortega of Silverton.

Noel was preceded in death by his grandfather Max Ortega Jr.; father, Jimmie Noel.


Nicholas Rougemont

GRANTS — Services for Nicholas James Rougemont, 17, will be announced at a later date.

Rougemont died Nov. 4, 2007 in Albuquerque. He was born Jan. 23, 1990 in Grants.

He was a senior at Grants High School at the time of this death.
