LuAnna Rangel

GALLUP — Memorial services for LuAnna Marie Rangel (Chucky), 34, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13 at Cope Memorial Chapel, Gallup.

Rangel died Nov. 8, 2007 in Gallup. She was born April 26, 1973 in Gallup.

Rangel graduated from Central High School and was employed by Myamira Junior High School as a cook.

Survivors include sons, Dominic Sanchez, Andres Sanchez; mother, Rita Chavez; brothers, Gilbert Alonzo Jr., Robert Lupp II, Sammy Alonzo; sisters, Denette Johnsen, Rosie Alonzo, Cynthia Alonzo, Sophie Suarez; grandparents, Ignacio Rangel.

Rangel was preceded in death by Mildred S. Rangel-Dietrich; Ralph Dietrich.

Pallbearers will be Freddy Baca, Michael Villanveva.

Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.


Olivia Mariano

BRIMHALL, N.M. — Funeral services for Olivia Ann James Mariano, 31, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13. Private Disposition will be in Family Plot, Brimhall, N.M.

Mariano was born June 24, 1976 in Gallup into the Tangle People Clan for the Black Forest People Clan.

Mariano graduated 1994 Crownpoint, Apollo College. She was a medical assistant, certified nurse assistant and was working for the Little Sisters of the Poor. She enjoyed her interaction with nieces and nephews and her hobbies were reading and crossword puzzles. She liked to travel.

Survivors include her husband, Alvin Mariano; daughter, Kirsten Ann Mariano; parents, Ellen Arviso, Arthur Hood both of Brimhall; brothers, Stewart James of Gallup; sisters, Anita James, Lanita Hammett both of Gallup.

Mariano was preceded in death by her grandparents, Steven and Eva Arviso; uncle, Harrey Arviso; niece, Lanece Sandoval.

Pallbearers will be Scotty Gruber, Trez Gruber, Stewart James, Jeremiah James, Tony Hood, Ronald Largo.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Coyote Canyon Chapter House, Brimhall, following services.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


Patsy Halwood

CHINLE — Services for Patsy Begay Halwood, 54, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13 at the Trinity Presbyterian Church, Chinle. Pastor Frank James will officiate. Burial will be in Chinle Community Cemetery.

Halwood died Nov. 8, 2007 in Phoenix. She was born Dec. 15, 1953 in Chinle into the Bitter Water People Clan for the Red Running into the Water People Clan.

Survivors include her brother, Elliot Brown; sisters, Alice Mitchell, Aurelia Charles.
Halwood was preceded in death by her son, Leander Halwood.

Pallbearers will be Aaron R. Brown, Shoanyah Lynn Halwood, Elliot H. Tsosie, Frankie Woods, Zander Tsosie, Sam Tafoya.

Lucy Hoisington

GRANTS — Graveside services for Lucy E. Hoisington, 98, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13 at the Grants Memorial Park.

Hoisington died Nov. 8, 2007 in Grants. She was born April 29, 1909 in Guam.

Survivors include daughter, Lucille Wood of Belen; sisters, Francis Peterson of Hobbs, Florence Eldridge of El Cadones, N.M.; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-granchildren.

Pallbearers will be Joe Dee Hoisington Jr., Tim L. Hoisington, Leroy Hoisington Jr., Jimmy Hoisington, Jessie Hoisington, Cody Hoisington, Jack Simpson, Josh Simpson, Wes Wood, Les Wood, Chad Shurter, Mario Chavez, Xaiver Chavez, Clay Durnal, Derk Salazar.


Mary James

TSAILE — Services for Mary Alice James, 72, will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 13 at the St. Isabel, Lukichukai, Ariz. Fr. Blane Grein will officiate. Burial will be at Tsaile Family Plot. Visitation will be one hour before services, at 10 a.m. at St. Isabel.

James died Nov. 9, 2007 in Shiprock. She was born March 15, 1935 in Round Rock, Ariz. into the Salt Water People Clan for the Red House People Clan.

James attended St. Michaels Mission School and Shiprock Boarding school. She was a cook for two years at BIA and public schools and CHR of Tsaile Community. Her hobbies were baking sewing, baking, reading, song and dance, traditional ceremonies.

Survivors include husband, George James Sr.; sons, George James Jr., Nelson James, Gerald James; daughters, Shirley Barry of Fort Defiance, Loretta J. of Shiprock, Ernestine James of Farmington, Lynn Ann James of Farmington; brother, Albert Begay of Gallup, Thomas Begay of Crystal; sister, Darlene Johnson of Round Rock; 24 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Tsaile, Ariz., after services.


Erminia Saavedra

SAN RAFAEL — Funeral Mass for Erminia Maria Saavedra, 76, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13 at the San Rafael Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the San Rafael Community Cemetery. Father Jeff King will officiate. A rosary will be 7 p.m. today, Nov. 12 at the San Rafael Catholic Church.

Saavedra died Nov. 9, 2007 in San Rafael. She was born Dec. 31, 1930 in San Rafael.

Survivors include sons, Billy Saavedra Sr. of San Rafael, Peter Saavedra of San Rafael; daughters, Henrietta Leos of Santa Fe, Denise Saavedra of San Rafael, Valari Torrez of Los Angeles; brother, Julian Torrez of San Rafael; sisters, Celia DuBoise of San Rafael, Polly Melonas, Helen Torrez, both of Grants, Rita Thompson of Milan; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

Saavedra was preceded in death by her husband, Miguel Saavedra; parents, Pedro and Margarita Torrez; brothers, Fermin Torrez, Fedencio Torrez, Alfonso Torrez; sister, Aurelia Chavez; stepsister, Peida Murrietta; stepbrother, Leondro Torrez; one granddaughter.
Pallbearers will be Antonio Leos, John Paul Gonzales, Lonnie Hudson, George Melonas, Billy Saavedra Jr., Francisco Mata Jr.


Rafael Gallegos

SAN RAFAEL — Funeral Mass for Rafael C. Gallegos, 77, will be 10 a.m. today, Nov. 12 at San Rafael Catholic Church. Burial will follow at San Rafael Community Cemetery with military honors by the Veterans of Post 3221. Rosary was 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11 at San Rafael Catholic Church.

Gallegos died Nov. 8, 2007 in Albuquerque. He was born Nov. 4, 1930 in San Rafael.

Survivors include sons, Rafael Gallegos Jr. of Las Cruces, Gregory Gallegos of Grants; daughters, Barbara Goltz of Albuquerque; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

Gallegos was preceded in death by wife, Lucy Gallegos; son, Ronnie Gallegos; parents, Alfredo Gallegos Sr., Amailia Gallegos; brothers, Alfredo Gallegos Jr., Fermin Gallegos Sr., Martin Gallegos; sister, Rose Saavedra.

Pallbearers will be Gordon Gallegos, Alfred Saavedra, Henry Murrietta Jr., Chris Lopez, Toby Gallegos, David Chavez.


Richard Stifler

VANDERWAGEN — Services are pending for Richard Bond Stifler, 68.

Stifer died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2007 in Vanderwagen. He was born Sept. 14, 1939 in Winslow.
