Gene McDorman

FENCE LAKE, N.M. — Graveside services for Gene McDorman, 69, will be 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 29 at the Fence Lake Community Cemetery.

McDorman died Oct. 25, 2007 in Gallup. He was born April 7, 1938 in Phoenix.

He was a retired from the U.S. Forest Service.
Survivors include son, John McDorman of Chino Valley, Ariz.; daughters, Gina West of El Paso, Karmia Hamilton of Edgewood, RosaLegh McDorman of Henderson; mother, Etha Elouise McDorman of Fence Lake; brother, Gary McDorman of Fence Lake; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

McDorman is preceded in death by wife, Janis McDorman; father, John Foster McDorman; brothers, Glenn Curtis McDorman, William Leonard McDorman.

He’s the last of the Bataan survivors from Battery D, Payton said. There are still a handful of march survivors in this area from other units.


Pete Espinosa

SOCORRO – Funeral Mass for Pete Espinosa, 86, will be at 10 a.m., Monday, Oct. 29 at the San Miguel Church in Socorro.

A rosary will be held on at 7 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Espinosa died Oct. 25, 2007 in Socorro He was born in Gibson, near Gallup. Espinosa was a World War II veteran and a survivor of the Bataan Death March and was the Post 8 Veteran of the Year for 2006 because of his work on Veteran’s Day in 2005 in the recognition by the Post of the members of Battery D. He also received the post’s Commanders Appreciation Award, which is the only that the post has given out so far in its 86-year history.

Internment will take place at 3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29 at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe.
Besides his wife Geraldine, survivors include a son, George Espinosa of Chicago; daughters Arlene Sandoval of Gallup and Antoinette Romero of Socorro; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.


Isabell Morris

NASCHITTI — Funeral services for Isabell Henry Morris, 87, will be 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 29 at the Rehoboth Christian Reformed Church, Rehoboth. Pastor James L. Jackson will officiate. Burial will be in Rehoboth Cemetery.

Morris died Oct. 25, 2007 in Gallup. She was born March 29, 1920 in Naschitti into the Water’s Edge People Clan for the Salt People Clan.

McDorman went to Rehoboth Mission School. She enjoyed being a housewife, attending church, fellowship and being with family.

Survivors include sons, Jack Morris Jr., Richard Morris, both of Page, Ariz., Thomas Morris of Carson City, Nev.; daughters, Laura Holona, Mae Begay, both of Naschitti, Glenda Lee of Two Grey Hills, N.M.; 48 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren.

Morris was preceded in death by husband, Jack D. Morris Sr.; sons, Wilson Morris, Nelson Morris; daughters, Angela Nez, Elizabeth Notah.

Pallbearers will be Derrick Begay, Kevin Tsosie, Edwin Tsosie, Norvin Notah, Jonathan Holona, Frenek Nez.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Naschitti Chapter House, following services.


Socorro Torres

GALLUP — Funeral Mass for Socorro Torres, 78, will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 29 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Gallup. Father Eduardo (Lalo) Espinosa, OFM will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Gallup. Visitation will be at Rollie Mortuary. A rosary will be recited at St. Francis Catholic Church, Monday, Oct. 29 at 10 a.m.

Torres died Oct. 25, 2007 in Gallup. She was born May 4, 1929 in Chihuahua, Mexico.

Survivors include husband, Ramiro Torres; son, Ruben Torres; daughter, Alicia Torres; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren.

Torres was preceded in death by son, Humberto Torres.

Pallbearers will be Ruben Torres Jr., Ramiro Torres, Natividad Mendoza, Manuel Vidales.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
