Lora Clark
AZTEC Memorial services for Lora Mae Clark, 72, will
be 1 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 1 at the Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints Church in Aztec.
Clark was born April 14, 1935 in Gallup.
She attended Gallup schools and worked as a teller at Merchants
Bank, a reading teacher at Washington Elementary and a cashier
at Little Bear Trading Post. After that, she was enjoyed being
a wife, mom and nana.
Survivors include daughters, Brenda Lee, Jewel Kay, Bick Ward;
five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
Clark was preceded in death by her husband Freddie.
Pallbearers will be special friends of Gallup and Aztec.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the LDS Church
1 p.m.Thursday, Nov. 1.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your
choice.
Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Margarette Witt
LOS LUNAS Graveside services for Margarette Witt,
85, will be 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 2 at the Sunset Memorial
Cemetery, Gallup.
Witt died Oct. 27, 2007 in Albuquerque. She was born May 22,
1922 in Gallup.
Witt enjoyed sharing stories of working as a young woman in the
gift shop at the El Rancho Hotel, where she once spent an afternoon
visiting with actor Ronald Regan while he awaited news of the
birth of his first child.
Survivors include sons, Michael Witt of Abilene, Texas, Chris
Witt of Los Lunas, Von Witt of Albuquerque, Russell Witt of Gallup;
daughters, Vee Witt of Chubbuck, Idaho, Francis Teel of Navajo
Damsite; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.
Witt was preceded in death by husband, Vaughn Witt; parents,
Charles and Maggie McQuade; brother, Joe L. McQuade; sister, Francis
Parker and one grandson.
Clara Yazzie
BLUE GAP/TACHEE, Ariz. Funeral services for Clara Ann
Yazzie, 56, will be 10 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 1 at the Toki
HaSbii Holiness Church, Black Mountain, Ariz. Burial will be in
Toki Hasbiii Holiness Church.
Yazzie died Oct. 27, 2007 in Phoenix. She was born Dec. 24, 1950
in Blue Gap/ Tachee into the Walks Around People Clan for the
Bitter Water People Clan.
Yazzie graduated from Sanders Valley High School, worked at Wide
Ruins Boarding School for 35 years, was a Shi Heart Home Health
Care provider for 2 years.
Survivors include husband, Henry Yazzie of Wide Ruins; son, Walton
Yazzie of Phoenix; daughters, Henrietta Chester, Melissa Castro,
both of Phoenix; brothers, Jerry Benally of Blue Gap, Robert Benally
of Wide Ruins, Herbert Benally of Chinle; sisters, Linda Simpson
of Farmington, Carol Clark of Klagetoh, Mary Ann Benally of Blue
Gap, Rose Mary Claw of Many Farms; 10 grandchildren.
Yazzie was preceded in death by Alice Benally.
Pallbearers will be Eugene Robinson, Eugene Yazzie, Jonathan Chester,
Jerry Benally, Herbert Benally, Louise St. Germaine.
A reception will be announced at the cemetery.
Tse Bonito Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Joe Chavez III
GALLUP Funeral Mass for Joe B. Chavez III, 28, will be
10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 2 at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Gallup. Rev.
Lawrence OKeefe will officiate. Private disposition will
be at a later date. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday,
Nov. 1 at Sacred Heart Cathedral.
Chavez died Oct. 22, 2007 in Estancia, N.M. He was born March
12, 1979 in Gallup.
Survivors include his son, Jose Antonio Chavez of Gallup; grandmother,
Josephine Chavez of Gallup; mother, Linda Chavez; sister, Sunshine
Chavez of San Diego.
Chavez was preceded in death by his father, Joe B. Chavez Jr.;
grandfather, Joe B. Chavez Sr.
The family will receive relatives and friends at 506 S. Puerco,
Gallup, following the rosary and after the mass.
Vernon Long
GALLUP Services for Vernon Max Long were 1 p.m. Tuesday,
Oct. 30 at Cope Memorial. Rev. Jimmy Bowling officiated. Burial
followed at Gallup City Cemetery.
Long died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2007 in Gallup. He was born March
16, 1967 in Gallup into the Towering House People Clan for the
Mountain Cove People Clan.
Long was attending classes at the northside reducation center.
He enjoyed being with his nephews and nieces and watching football
and rodeo and especially the History Channel. In high school he
rode in the bareback competition. He liked to hike and enjoy nature.
He also liked riding motorcycles.
Survivors included his mother, Maxine of Rock Springs; brothers,
Lloyd, Roland, both of Rock Springs; sisters, Joanne Long, Evangeline
Shakey both of Rock Springs, Debra Martinez, Bernadine Wayne,
Leola Long, all of Albuquerque.
Long was preceded in death by his father, Leo Long; grandfather,
Max Miller; grandmother, Irene Miller Adakai.
Bryan Upshaw
GAMERCO Services for Bryan Michael Upshaw, 31, will be
10 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 1 at Rollie Mortuary, Gallup. Burial will
be in Naschitti Community Cemetery.
Upshaw died Oct. 27, 2007 in Farmington. He was born Nov. 21,
1975 in Silver City. N.M., into the Sleeping Rock People Clan
for the Towering House People Clan.
Upshaw graduated from Window Rock High School in 1994, attended
Phoenix College for two years, attended UNM and UTI. He played
football for Phoenix College.
Survivors include wife, Misty L. Hamilton of Window Rock; parent,
Marie B. Upshaw of Gamerco; brothers, Vernon B. Upshaw of Phoenix;
grandparents, Nelson and Jannie Francisco of Naschitti.
Upshaw was preceded in death by father, Michael W. Upshaw.
Pallbearers will be Nathan Francisco, Jacob Francisco, Justin
Francisco, Brad Upshaw, Vernon Upshaw, Mars Morgan, Dewindle Denetdale.
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Joanne Barbone
BORREGO PASS Funeral services for Joanne Theresa Barbone,
51, will be at Borrego Pass, Friday, Nov. 2, 2007 at the Barbones
residence. Pastor Harry D. Largo will officiate. Burial will be
in Barbones cemetery, Borrego Pass.
Barbone died Oct. 28, 2007 in Crownpoint. She was born July 24,
1956 in Crownpoint into the Bitter Water People Clan for the Hairy
Ones People Clan.
Barbone attended Crownpoint High School. She was a silversmith
at the time of her death. Her hobbies included traveling, listening
to gospel music and being around her family.
Survivors include brothers, Leonard Barbone of Sandsprings, Ned
C. Barbone Sr. of Borrego Pass, Bennie Barbone of Canoncito, Woody
Barbone of Haystack, Eddie Barbone of Albuquerque.
Barbone was preceded in death by parents, John T. Barbone and
Elsne N. Barbone; brothers, Sammy Barbone, Wayne Barbone, Jones
Barbone, Tony Barbone.
Pallbearers will be Tyrone Silentman, Gilbert Johnson, Johnny
Barbone, Kenneth Barbone, Timothy Barbone, Deandro Barbone.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Barbones
residence after the funeral.
Juan Maestas Jr.
MILAN Services are pending for Juan Amadeo Maestas Jr.,
75.
Maestas died Oct. 28, 2007 in Albuquerque. He was born Jan. 5,
1932 in Llano, N.M.
