Harold Yazzie

JONES RANCH — Funeral services for Harold Yazzie, 50, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5 at Oak View Bible Church. Jimmy Francisco will officiate. Burial will follow on private family land.

Yazzie died Aug. 30, 2007 in Gallup. He was born July 20, 1957 in (Blackrock) Zuni into the Edgewater People Clan.

Yazzie was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked for Union Pacific Railroad and was a carpenter by trade.

Survivors include his wife, Fannie James of Jones Ranch; sons, Myron H. Yazzie and Billy James, III both of Jones Ranch; mother, Helen Skeet of Chichiltah; brothers, Curtis Skeet of Albuquerque, Douglas Skeet of Vanderwagen, And Anthony Skeet of Vanderwagen; sisters, Sylvia Skeet of Chichiltah and Cynthia Skeet of Chichiltah; and one grandchild.

Yazzie was preceded in death by Arnold Skeet and Joe Sam Skeet.

Pallbearers will be Myron Yazzie, Darrel Nez, Ivan Skeet, Billy James, III, Anthony Skeet, and LeRoy Tsosie.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Helen Skeet Residence.

Cope Memorial is in charge of arrangements.


Douglas Howes

GALLUP – Services for Douglas E. Howes, 78, will be announced at a later date.

Howes died Sept. 1, 2007 in Mesa, Ariz. He was born April 25, 1929.

Cope Memorial is in charge of arrangements.


Ben S. Benally

BECENTI — Funeral services for Ben S. Benally, 79, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5 at St. Paul Catholic Church in Crownpoint. Father Kevin Finnegan will officiate. Burial will follow at on private family land in Becenti.

A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m., today, Sept. 4 at St. Paul Catholic Church.

Benally died Aug. 31, 2007 in Albuquerque. He was born May 5, 1928 in Crownpoint into the Sleeping Rock people Clan for the Towering House People Clan.

Benally retired from the BIA Facility Management after 32 years of service. Benally was a former member of Community Land Use Planning Committee and was involved in chapter activities. He enjoyed reading the Navajo Bible, working on vehicles and ranch work.

Survivors include his wife, Louise R. Benally of Becenti; sons, Benjamin Benally, Andrew Benally, and Marshall Benally, all of Becenti; daughters, Ella Thompson, Margaret Benally, and Bernice Ramone, all of Becenti; 20 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Benally was preceded in death by his parents, Solin and Kospah Benally; brothers, Dan S. Benally, Tom Benally, Frank Benally, and Johnson Benally, Sr., sisters, Evelyn Manuelito, Nellie Succo, and Alice McCauley; and one grandson.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
