Theodore Ramirez

GALLUP — Funeral services for Theodore (Loly) Ramirez, 76, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 6 at Sacred Heart Cathedral Church. Father Edwin Bryan-Diesen will officiate. Private disposition will be announced at a later date.

A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5 at Rollie Palm Chapel.

Ramirez died Sept. 1, 2007 in Gallup. He was born Aug. 13, 1931 in Madrid, N.M.

Ramirez graduated from Gallup High School. He was employed with City Electric Shoe Shop for the past 58 years. Ramirez served in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Inez Ramirez of Gallup; son, Theodore Ramirez, Jr. of Gallup; daughter, Virginia of Westminster, Colo.; brothers, Seve Ramirez of Gallup and Manuel (Babe) Ramirez of Monterey, Calif.; and one grandchild, Renee Cortez.

Ramirez was preceded in death by his parents, Rosa and Teodomiro Ramirez; sisters, Charlotte Madrid and Petra Montoya; and brother, Joe Ramirez.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


Ella C. Begay

MARIANO LAKE — Funeral services for Ella C. Begay, 59, will be at 11 a.m. today, Sept. 5 at Rehoboth Christian Reformed Church. Pastor Ted Charles will officiate. Burial will follow at Rehoboth Christian Cemetery.

Begay died Aug. 31, 2007 in Crownpoint. She was born May 22, 1948 in Mariano Lake into the Mud People Clan for the Water Flows Together People Clan.

Begay attended Intermountain School in Brigham City, Utah and Mariano Lake School. She was employed as a community health representative, senior companion, and substance abuse counselor for adults and adolescents.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas C. Begay; son, Bryant Begay of Mariano Lake; daughters, Lucille Begay of Farmington; Merlynda Garcia of Littlewater, and Arlene Begay, of Thoreau; brothers, Amos Casamero of Church Rock and Sammie Casamero of Mariano Lake; sisters, Priscilla Frank of Mariano Lake, Helen Casamero of Denver, and Evelyn Begay of Mariano Lake; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Begay was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil Casamero and Ellen J. Casamero.

Pallbearers will be Randall Willie, Ed Brown, Brian Begay, DeWayne Casamero, Ryan Jeff and Benjamin Hosteen, Jr.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Mariano Lake Chapter House.

Cope Memorial is in charge of arrangements.


Ernie Davis

CHINLE — Funeral services for Ernie Davis, 40, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 6 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Father Kent Roy will officiate. Burial will follow at Chinle Community Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church.

Davis died Sept. 1, 2007 in Chinle. He was born Sept. 12, 1966 in Ganado into the Water Flows Together People Clan for the Zuni Clan.

Davis attended Rough Rock Middle School and graduated from Many Farms High School in 1985. He learned carpentry, architecture, and electronics from Albuquerque Institute of Technology. Davis enjoyed horsemanship and was a talented guitarist.

Survivors include his son, Cody Lee Chavez; parents, Ernest and Florence Davis; brothers, Gabriel Davis and Gerald Johnson; sisters, Carole Uentillie and Karen Gorman; and grandmother Elizabeth Davis.

Davis was preceded in death by his grandmother, Clebah Johnson; grandfather, Charley Davis; and numerous uncles.

Pallbearers will be Gerald Johnson, Wilson Carroll, Jr., Francis Yazzie, Edwin Yoe, Lewison Yazzie, and Lee Wells.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Chinle Valley Store, half mile west of Old Chinle Valley Store after services.

Tse Bonito Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


Dewayne Lee

GALLUP — Services for Dewayne “Pork Chop” Lee, 31, will be announced at a later date.

Lee died Sept. 2, 2007 in Gallup. He was born April 14, 1976 in Fort Defiance into the Black Streak of Forest People Clan for the Bitter Water People Clan.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


Travis Coulston

GALLUP — Funeral services for Travis Don Coulston, 17, will be announced at a later date.

Coulston died Sept. 2, 2007 in Gallup. He was born July 11, 1990 in Gallup for the Water Flows Together People Clan.
