Mia Henderson
FORT DEFIANCE Funeral services for Mia Janelle Henderson,
18, will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 10 at Sacred Heart Cathedral.
Fr. Gilbert Schneider, OFM, will officiate. Burial will follow
on the family plot in Sanostee.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9 at Our Lady
of the Blessed Sacrament in Fort Defiance.
Henderson died Sept. 5, 2007 in Tucson. She was born April 10,
1989 in Fort Defiance into the Edge Water People Clan for the
Tangle People Clan.
Henderson graduated from Tuba City High School in 2007. She graduated
with honors and was ranked 6th in her class. She was a National
Honor Society member, a Chief Manuelito Scholar, and a student
at the University of Arizona at the time of her death. Henderson
enjoyed sports especially softball and basketball. She also enjoyed
reading, watching classic movies, and spending time with friends
and family.
Survivors include her parents, Henry and Jennifer Henderson of
Fort Defiance; brothers, Charles William Henderson of Fort Defiance;
sisters, Kristen Shealynn Henderson and Gracie Ann Henderson of
Fort Defiance; grandparents, Johnny R. Thompson of Pinedale, Maxine
Morgan Bahe of Fort Defiance, and Chuck Henderson of Window Rock.
Henderson was preceded in death by her grandmother, Helene A.
Henderson; great-grandparents, Dr. William and Desbah Morgan,
Sr. and Charles H. Henderson; and Dorothea Johnson and Aubrey
R. Morgan.
Pallbearers will be Clyde Henderson, Wade Henderson, Otis Henderson,
Richard D. Morgan, Lionel Price, and Teyen K. Tsosie.
Silver Creek Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Robert Lee
GAMERCO Funeral services for Robert Jason Lee, 42, will
be at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 10 at First Church of the Nazarene
in Gallup. Pastor Raymond Perry will officiate. Burial will follow
at the Gallup City Cemetery.
Lee died Sept. 4, 2007 in Gamerco. He was born Aug. 2, 1965 in
Gallup into the Red Running into the Water People Clan for the
Chiricahua Apache People.
Lee attended Van Buren Middle School, Highland School, and Gallup
High School. He was co-owner of Somethin Wild Tattoos and
was a published artist.
Survivors include his daughters, Melinda Beth Lee of San Felipe,
N.M.; parents, Herbert E. Lee of Bluewater and Linda R. Lee of
Albuquerque; brothers, Derrick B. Lee of Gamerco; grandparents,
Martha D. Perry of Gamerco, Robert E. Lee and Mary E. Lee of Pinon,
Ariz.
Pallbearers will be Danny Sanchez, Tim Trujillo, Merv Moran,
Dorian Hastings, John Carrillo, Mark Silva, Vance Gill, and Chaney
Gill.
The family will receive relatives and friends at First Church
of the Nazarene.
Cope Memorial is in charge of arrangements.
Mae Yazzie
CHINLE Funeral services for Mae Rose Yazzie, 66, will
be at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 10 at Our Lady of Fatima Church in
Chinle. Fr. Flann ONeil, OFM, will officiate. Burial will
follow at the family plot in Chinle.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services.
Yazzie died Sept. 5, 2007 in Sun City, Ariz. She was born Feb.
16, 1941 in Chinle into the Deer Springs People Clan for the Mexican
People Clan.
Yazzie was employed with Chinle School District, Navajo Nation
Senior Centers in Chinle and Many Farms Chinle Health Services
where she retired from as a cook. She helped many people through
the Native American Church. Her hobbies included arts and crafts
and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her sons, Julius Yazzie of Rough Rock and Juliason
Yazzie of Peoria, Ariz.; daughters Caroline Yazzie and Cheryl
Martinez, both of Phoenix; mother, Susie Martinez; brothers, Michael
Martinez of Chinle and Kenneth Martinez, all of Chinle; sisters,
Nellie Yazzie, Angela Chee, Louise Chee and Katherine Francisco
all of Chinle, Selena Shorthair of Pinon, Lorraine Martinez of
Phoenix, and Esther Slim of Salt Lake City; and 12 grandchildren.
Yazzie was preceded in death by his father, Notah Martinez; and
Terry Yazzie.
Pallbearers will be Anthony Chee, Darrell Francisco, Benjamin
Yazzie, Kurtis Smith, Victor Martinez, Teddy Halwood, Jr., Eli
Paul, and Garrett Smith.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Susie Martinez
residence, five miles north of Bashas Market in Chinle.
Silver Creek Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Joseph Cordova
ALBUQUERQUE Services for Joseph L. Cordova, 65, will be
announced at a later date.
Visitation will be from noon to 4:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10 at
Rollie Mortuary.
Cordova died Sept. 5, 2007 in Albuquerque. He was born July 18,
1942 in Gallup.
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
