Kevin Saunders

CROWNPOINT— Funeral services for Kevin Saunders, 29, will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 18 at Smith Lake at the the residence. Angela Begay will officiate. Burial will be in Thoreau Community Cemetery.

Saunders died Sept. 13, 2007 in Crownpoint. He was born April 12, 1978 in Gallup into the Clump Tree People Clan for the Water That Flows Together People Clan.

He graduated in 1996 from Thoreau High and was a bass player for the Night Breeze Band. His hobbies were playing his guitars, watching movies, and traveling with his band and meeting new people.

Survivors include his mother, Ellen Saunders; brothers, Calvin Saunders and Little River Saunders; sister, Melissa Saunders; grandparents, Alice Joe Ben, Dorothy S. Larry.
Saunders was preceded in death by Bobby Saunders, Jimmie Joe Ben.

Pallbearers will be Maunel James, Cecil Sanders Jr., Wilson Zospha, Jimison Joe Ben Jr., Walter Chavez, Evan Sanders.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Thoreau Chapter House after services.

Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.


Imelda Stevens

NASCHITTI— Funeral services for Imelda J. Stevens, 89, will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 18 at the St. Mary Cathoic Church, Tohatchi. Father Joe Redinbo will officiate. Burial will be in the community cemetery, Naschitti.

Steven died Sept. 14, 2007 in Gallup. She was born April 1, 1918 in Crystal, N.M. into the One Who Walks Around People Clan for the Salt People Clan.

She was an active member of St. Mary’s Church, enjoyed reading, herding sheep, weaving, spending time with grandchildren and cooking.

Survivors include son, Melvin Stevens of Sanders; daughters, Marie Stevens of Naschitti, Frehdona Stevens of Manuelito; brother, Fred Jones of Gallup; sisters, Martha Hayes of Shiprock, Rosemary Louie of Naschitti; 21 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

Stevens was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome Stevens; parents, Frank and Rose Ann Jones; brother, Thomas Yazzie; sister, Nattie Jones; one son and one daughter.

Pallbearers will be the Apache County Sheriff Department.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Naschitti Chapter House following burial.

Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.


Anna Bohanan

WINDOW ROCK— Funeral services for Anna Ruth Bohanan, 84, of Window Rock, will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 18 at the Community Bible Church, Tse Bonito, N.M. Pastor David Hilderman will officiate. Burial will be in Community Cemetery St. Michaels. Visitation will be 6:30 p.m. -7:30 p.m. Sept. 17 at the Community Bible Church.

Bohanan died Sept. 13, 2007 in Fort Defiance. She was born April 23, 1923 in Fort Defiance into the One Who Walks Around People Clan for the Towering House People Clan.

She attended school at Good Sheperd Mission, Albuquerque. Indian School, Haskell Jr. College.
Survivors include son, Vincent Bohanan of Window Rock; brothers, Willie Anderson, Edwin Anderson, Edward Anderson, Nelson Anderson; sisters, Charlotte Greenstone, Anna Mae Plummer, Agnes Reed and Mary Jane Catron.
Bohanan was preceded in death by husband, Silas Bohanan; daughter, Diana Bohanan; mother, Josephine Catron.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Sangster, Clarence Catron, Shy VanKeuken, Curran Hanaron, Fernando Garcia, Roderick Tsosie.

Silver Creek Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


Wilfred Joe

WINDOW ROCK— Services for Wilfred “Wil” F. Joe, 33, will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 18 at the St. Michael’s Catholic Church. Father Gilbert will officiate. Burial will be in Tse Bonito family plot. Visitation will be one hour prior to service.

Joe died Sept. 13, 2007 in Fort Defiance. He was born May 1, 1974 in Fort Defiance into the Water Flows Together People Clan for the Bear Enemy of Tewa Pueblo People Clan.

Graduated from Hurricane School in 1992 at St. George, Utah. He was self employed with DVD’s and CD’s and was well known for his movies.He enjoyed playing football.

Survivors include daughter, Airel Joe; parents, Paul and Alyce Joe; brothers, Anthony Ayze Jr., Allen Ayze, Aaron Ayze, Roberto Joe; sisters, Anarita Ayze, Geneva Joe, Pauletta Joe.

Joe was preceded in death by Anita Ayze.

Pallbearers will be Allen A. Ayze, Aaron A. Ayze, Dewayne Wauneha, Clinton Jim, Richie Jordan and Freddie Yazzie.

The family will receive relatives and friends at St. Michaels Parrish Hall after services.

Silver Creek Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
